RowlandoGloom Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 Good Morning, Here's an interesting one. In GPP, when I set an Internet Settings preference for any version of I.E., all the settings disappear after a few minutes. You re-open the preference and everything is removed. When viewing the XML in \\domain\sysvol\domain\policies\{guid}\Users\Preferences\InternetSetings - over time the entries slowly disappear, leaving only the targeting groups (with no settings) in the XML. I have tried with several GPOs, both old and new - it keeps happening. No other GPPs have any issues at all - just the internet ones. Every time I search Google, the only results are about people who can't find the old IE Maintenance policy, not this specific issue. Cheers for your help. Paul.
fairm010 Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 Are you pressing F6 (I think its that) to turn the red line green? Another useful undocumented thing from MS.
RowlandoGloom Posted September 8, 2015 Author Posted September 8, 2015 I am. It turns green, I add the settings. When I re-open it, they are missing and the lie has reverted to red.
fairm010 Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 You need to put your settings in then press it to turn it green.
RowlandoGloom Posted September 8, 2015 Author Posted September 8, 2015 I've tried that too. So why do they remain for a few minutes? Opening and closing the preference several times, they remain there, then suddenly they disappear?
fairm010 Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 Odd. Do you have a central store or per DC?
RowlandoGloom Posted September 8, 2015 Author Posted September 8, 2015 Each of the 3 DCs has it's own copy of the SYSVOL etc.. Replication etc. is working properly too. These are GPPs - which are saved as XML files and not .pol files which use the .adm / .admx templates. Thanks, Paul.
andy_nic Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 i had this issue had to rebuild my websettings GPO ever since then I've had no issues.
RowlandoGloom Posted September 8, 2015 Author Posted September 8, 2015 i had this issue had to rebuild my websettings GPO ever since then I've had no issues. I'll give creating a new one another go. I just don't understand why it would happen. As the rest of GPPs are XML files, you'd think others would have the same / similar problem. Stuff just randomly disappearing from what is basically a text file is crazy. Cheers everyone.
