DNS Not Scavenging

Hi

 

Just been looking through our DNS and noticed lots of old stale records - 2014 etc

 

Several entries for same IP address and if you tracert to a stale record its points to the new computer with the same IP address.

 

However, on the server its set to scavenge after 7 days.

 

Any suggestions please without going deleting all the old ones.

Derr, found you need to enable scavenging on the actual zone as well.

 

What is recommendation for scavenging length compared to DHCP lease?

Scavenge length should be:

 

No-refresh+refresh interval = lease duration

 

So for me it's 4 days (no-refresh) + 4 days (refresh) = 8 days (lease)

 

That's what I got from an MS good practice guide anyway.
