LED screen for meeting room - with wireless broadcast ability?

We have now set up a room as a conference/meeting room in our school and we want to set up a 42"/50" screen to display things on.

 

Our main requirement is that we should be able to connect laptops to it wirelessly.

 

Ideally, this would be via something which utilises our existing wireless infrastructure (ie. we don't want to make staff connect to some form of ad-hoc wireless to do it).

 

Anyone got any suggestions?

AppleTV and a copy of AirParrot (~£7-ish) per Windows laptop that needs to use it?

 

Apple kit will just use AirPlay. Android devices are a bit hit-and-miss apps-wise.

Yes, that's an absolute requirement. There just isn't a way to do it with a wire without it looking a huge mess.

If you have a Windows PC connected to the screen, then you could put Reflector 2 onto the PC. That'll take mirroring connections from Android, Chromebooks and iOS devices. Then get a copy of AirParrot on each laptop which will enable them to AirPlay their screens to Reflector 2. That covers you from pretty much any angle/device.

I don't really want to add complexity by having a specific PC set up connected to the screen either - its another thing to maintain.

You could look at something like the Clevertouch Plus, which has Android built in. You can get Reflector for Android and do the Airplay Mirroring as I mentioned before with AirParrot.

Not really a fan of spending £2k on this either. Don't need interactivity or anything like that.

Alot of wireless systems will want you to install some software for it to work. A system we offer at VeryPC is WePresent. These do require the user to install a program on their PC. Another option could be to get some wireless HDMI devices, this would not allow for older laptops without hdmi to be used though.

We're using widi in a few places. Windows 8/10 makes it easy; Windows 7 means you need to get the software installed (and you also need the right Intel chipset for any OS)

 

It's really straightforward to use.

 

the real nightmare comes with trying to support everything - Apple don't do WiDi and Apple TV doesn't really work on anything other than a single WAP (it's great at home but no good when you have a more complex setup)

Looks like a chromecast and seems to do the same stuff and work in a similar way. A lot more expensive though.

 

Not cheap but something like this is quite nice; http://www.barco.com/en/clickshare have seen them in action and they are quite cool

Not really. Practicality dictates what we can do. The room simply hasn't got a way to trail cables without them being a hazard, unless we start cutting holes in carpet, which is just not going to happen.

It also does PC HDMI Mirroring and Airplay in the same unit, as well as having dual radios so your device connects to the Airtame, and you can still access the wireless network/Internet.
