Basic Training for Technician

Hi

 

Can anyone recommend a course in the North of England for my technician.

 

He's worked with me for about a year, can follow a set of instructions but trouble shooting isn't great.

 

Don't want to send him on a Microsoft course as it will be too much for him.

 

Does A+ and N+ still exist? I know MCDST is no more.

Personally I do not think a course would be good as he would just be following the instructions on that.

 

He may just need a bit of coaching on it, maybe some internal training led by yourself?

 

For me I learn best when doing things and experimenting, A gentle push for your technician to try this may help?

What is the job role of your colleague who wants the training? Where does his/her current skill set fall? where are you looking to move this persons skills in to (technology wise)?

 

There are a lot of training courses on the market, its more about knowing what the need is, so we can point you in the right direction.

His job role is mainly first line -- changing toners etc which he can do. He can also do new logons too. I don't want him delving into too much but also want him to be more confident when fixing things.

If that's the case might be worth having a look at troubleshooting desktops, fundamentals to networking and some core 2012 Server Admin training.

 

There are a group of schools in Cumbria looking at some Core training for their technical staff in the new school year. Might be worth seeing if that's of interest?

 

Will be taking place just off the M6 (j38) at one of the schools.
