Dos_Box Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 i think it's about time we had a thread that now reflects the real world installs now going on since 10240 hit the internet last week. In here please include your hardware and any problems +workarounds you may have encountered, especially when it comes to driver issues. I took the plunge and installed it on my Surface 3 (not a Surface 3 Pro) on Friday and have been very impressed so far. The install process was very smooth and impressed me no end. The only problem(s) I have found so far are: When trying to start the Phone Companion app it kept crashing on launch. This was due to my having a micro-sd card inserted intop the tablet. Remove this and it started fine. Apparently this is an issue with all SD cards (micro or otherwise) which cause the same effect. So if you want to use this feature please ensure you do not have one fitted at the time. Had a strange issue last night where the Surface wouldn't come out of standby and the screen remained blank. It then made some random noises and had to be hard reset. I've not seen this before and will keep an eye out for it again. All in all though, I'm very impressed and it's certainly better than Windows 8 on a tablet.
Blue_Cookeh Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 Been testing it on the @VeryPC; Classmate Netbook ready for a deployment over this summer... Absolute bliss using it on there, but I can't find a driver for a device listing it self as Unknown with a PCI ID of ACCE0001. Seems to be working wonderfully so far, and my SCCM task sequences are pretty much the same as they were with our Win8.1 deployment. Now if only Office 2016 were out earlier!
ZeroHour Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 Please be warned, Surfaces have quite a few issues drivers and firmware are supposed to fix and firmware upgrades have not worked when applied with W10 if they are earlier versions.

Had to use windows 8.1 drivers for it, but otherwise no driver issues (yet). Known working games from my test Battlefield 4 (and all DLC) Cities: Skylines (some modded DLC doesn't work properly and leaves a blank space when building, but the attributes when placing work, down to the modders to fix) Crusader Kings 2 (and all DLC) Europa Universalis 4 (and all DLC) Elder Scrolls Online Euro Truck Simulator 2 (and all DLC) Farcry 3 All I've tested so far Hardware at home FX9370 CPU GTX 770 SLI Samsung 840 EVO - 250GB Samsung 840 EVO - 1TB Edited July 21, 2015 by featured_spectre added hardware

AMD Catalyst v15.7.1 32-bit, 64-bit Nvidia GeForce v353.62 32-bit, 64-bit Intel Iris, Iris Pro & HD Graphics v15.40.4.64.4256 64-bit This driver includes support for the new Microsoft Windows 10 operating system and adds new Windows 10 features including DirectX 12, PlayReady 3 for 1080p playback and Miracast. In addition, this driver also adds support for DirectX 11.3. The graphics, media, and display features supported on Windows 8.1 for the 4th and 5th Generation Core Processors are also supported on Windows 10.

Did the 8 drivers just install? No, I had to go and get them myself. The windows update version of the drivers didn't work, left me with what looked like 16bit colour. So I pulled the drivers and it was ok. I did a retest on my backup drive, and did a straight upgrade rather than a flat install, and it worked without issue, no need to install drivers or anything.

Thats bizarre as Windows will override the drivers and when I tested the 8 drivers on my 10 it didnt work for either of my nvidia graphics cards. It did install but didnt work.
afc123 Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Had serious issues with my upgrade screen resolution was off and the context menu vanished so when I right clicked any file to copy paste etc nothing happened! Also my trackpad drivers failed and lost wireless drivers. Ended up doing a clean install and all works perfectly, must have been an issue with my upgrade.
Gatt Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Been on Windows 10 for most of the TP and the Insider builds GTX 660 works well with most games, and got a couple of driver updates recently for it.. Alien: Isolation runs via Steam with no problems
CAM Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Got it running yesterday, SWTOR installed and ran no problem and my stuff was intact including programs. I did have to look up how to get the download unstuck though. The command line trick didn't work until I deleted the contents of C:\Windows\Software Deployment\Downloads

Progress Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 Hi, how many people are having issues with W10 installs failing due to incompatible wireless cards? It's a known issue and I have seen Samsung are big offenders as they are now out of the laptop business, so couldn't care less about support. Not that Microsoft are exactly full of ideas either.... I have also started having some issues with some Toshiba laptops, notably C50's - which over all my schools add up to a considerable number and the only sure fix I can find is to replace the WiFi card with a compatible one which works every time, not really looking forward to that as a full fix for obvious reasons... Anyone else suffering?
Chrish5 Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 My personal Dell laptop at home suffered with the Wifi connecting and disconnecting way too often so reverted back to Win 8 for now. I've downloaded the MCT and made a USB up ready to try an install from scratch to see if it goes better.
