Working computer in a display?

Found a picture a few weeks back of a computers someone had put inside a wall display.

 

It allowed you to see all the components whilst the computer was actually working.

 

Remember it had blue fans.

 

Anyone save a pic of it as i cant find it again. Think it was on reddit.

interestingly, I did this for an IT project when I was in school. we took apart an RM 386 SX 25 tower and mounted it all to sheet of persepex. Everything that was on a riser (memory, graphics, sound card, 10baseT network) was laid flat and delicately wired back to the motherboard using shedloads of rainbow ribbon cable. took me bloody hours to do. Even had 2 hard drives in it - one working the system and another opened and spinning.

Yeah, it's basically a simple wooden frame with a hole through the top for power and networking, the front is clear acrylic screwed into place in 10 places around the frame. The machine is pretty old, DDR2, don't remember the processor off hand one of the earlier intel chips from 2004/2005 I would guess. It has actually just died sadly after over 4 years in service, I haven't looked into the fault but would likely upgrade it anyway.

 

If you are thinking of making your own (or if I were to help do it again) I would suggest you make it deep enough so that the fans are behind the screen, drill some holes through it and put a mesh on the inside. Also drill vent holes in the sides as this machine ran hot at around 50-60C CPU temp. I would consider adding a touch screen as well and making it interactive, buttons on the screen that ejects the DVD Drive, writes data to the disc/usb drive (provided they have visible lights/moving parts), that sort of thing.
