CyberNerd Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 On the phone to them now for an update..... Something about my call has been added to a Master Issue !! - which has been on-going for over a week!!!! Have asked to speak to someone who can actually tell me what is going on!!!! ON HOLD!!!!!!!! Let me guess - RM topsliced too much money to pay share dividends, as a result the service sucks and schools are let down? but what do they care, they just bully bursars to think they can't change.

localzuk Posted July 8, 2015 Author Posted July 8, 2015 Same for me @kennysarmy. It just took 1.5 minutes to load the esi.swgfl.org.uk calls list for my account, and 51 seconds to load the Apple homepage. I tried to send them some timeline recordings from Chrome but the file upload field on the esi site came back with an error...

localzuk Posted July 8, 2015 Author Posted July 8, 2015 Nope, all sites were taking an age to load. Each Edugeek page 40 seconds+. Google results the same.
kennysarmy Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 Nope, all sites were taking an age to load. Each Edugeek page 40 seconds+. Google results the same. hmmmm - when we get slow issues sometimes it only affects SOME sites... edugeek and flickr are often slow but BBC for example is usually OK
drdos256 Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 We had this update from the service desk this evening:- "SWGfL Service Desk update - SWGfL proxy performance As a result of information gathered from our monitoring system and direct customer feedback, we have identified an issue where some customers are experiencing intermittent browsing performance issues. Our engineers understand the root cause of this issue and are working to resolve it. We are going to undertake a series of planned works, starting tonight (08/07/15) to resolve the problem. As we progress with the work we will provide regular daily updates through email and support call updates." If anyone finds out the "root cause" and the end date of "series of planned works" I'd be keen to know .... hopefully it will all be fixed before September....
newpersn Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 What's weird is the randomness of it... I am browsing fine around the BBC site but currently cannot get on flickr.com at all... This web page is not available ERR_TIMED_OUT then suddenly flickr.com is all OK!!! We been getting this for the last few weeks with the pupils. The pupils are still using proxy.swgfl.org.uk but the certificate is installed in the computer. I'm using sslfilter . staffproxy.swgfl.org.uk and it's been useless at the best of times. Other feeds have been fine. I did have the problem with Firefox today. Couldn't get it to connect to any https sites. I checked my certificate and I had a rm one that was out of date :/ Deleted it and it was fine. I'm suspised that no one from swgfl or rm haven't commented yet.
kennysarmy Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 Update this morning: SWGfL proxy performance We completed our 1st round of planned work to resolve the browsing performance issues last night and this morning. Early indications show this has had a positive impact and has helped improve performance. Further work will be carried out tonight and tomorrow to further improve performance.
kennysarmy Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 (edited) Just waited 15 seconds for this page to appear: Here are the details of your connection: Remote Host: 46.60.252.114 User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/43.0.2357.132 Safari/537.36 Proxy: 1.1 smoothwall.curriculum.local (squid/3.4.7), 1.1 proxy18.swgfl.ifl.net (squid) Originator: 10.107.93.93 Edited July 10, 2015 by kennysarmy
drdos256 Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 Still not right ... web pages slow to start with but once loaded the sites seem reasonably quick. Problems with Certiport where half the students had to try several times to login - managed to work eventually.
AJWhite1970 Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 Ours is possibly even worse than yesterday regardless of which proxy I use, SWGfL's or our own inhouse....
localzuk Posted July 10, 2015 Author Posted July 10, 2015 It just seems like terrible latency. Press go, wait ages, then the page arrives all at once. Like there's some guy with a STOP GO sign in the way.

jlucas Posted July 14, 2015 Posted July 14, 2015 Anyone else still really slow? Its taking 40+ seconds to load pages and we keep getting the odd timeout.
localzuk Posted July 14, 2015 Author Posted July 14, 2015 Not any more here, everything seems to be running smoothly again. *crosses fingers*
drdos256 Posted July 14, 2015 Posted July 14, 2015 (edited) I'm seeing the odd slowdown...and reporting it back to swgfl... Edited July 14, 2015 by drdos256
newpersn Posted July 14, 2015 Posted July 14, 2015 Last week of term. I'm thinking all the schools in swgfl area are going to hammer there connections. Been fine here today. Although I've been doing light admin work today
drdos256 Posted July 14, 2015 Posted July 14, 2015 Latest from SWGfL - "We are currently completing work that will further improve the performance of internet browsing through our proxies. Early indications from the changes we are making show improved performance. Using our proactive monitoring we will analyse the impact of the full change in the morning, we will then follow up with schools directly to see if the changes have improved browsing experience."

newpersn Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 Anyone else just had a problem with their internet feed. Ours cut out for about 1/2hour. With staff in and me on my own its kind of a problem...
Steve21 Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 Investigating We are currently aware with an issue affecting SWGfL connectivity customers. We are dealing with this issue as a high priority and our Development team and working on a solution. Aye same same Steve
AJWhite1970 Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 Yup, same here as well. I thought it was just my PC as I'm defraging exchange databases at the moment but clearly not. Nice to see it's starting to creak with only a handful of staff back, can't wait for Tuesday... Andrew
