Data Recovery!

Hello all,

 

I installed Windows 7 Pro 32bit onto a laptop been told the data was not needed. The method of installation I used was "Custom" (See attached photo). Turns out this was not the case and the data was in fact needed and I never did a backup of the files.

 

I have made no other changes to the laptop aside from installing it's OS.

 

Does anyone have any ideas as to how I can recover that data or have I lost it for good? I am willing to throw some cash at the solution.

 

Any advise is greatly appreciated.

Try this software I've always found it ok. I would plug the HDD into another computer as a "slave" and scan it that way? or maybe just install it and scan the drive and see if it brings anything back.

You might be able to get back some of the data but I don't think it's likely as there is a very good chance that you've overwritten the space that the files were originally stored on. The best data recovery software that I've used is GetDataBack but as I say, I don't think you'll have much luck.

 

GetDataBack costs about £80 but there is a free trial available which scans your disk and reports on what can be recovered. As @Mark182 says, take the disk out and put it in an external enclosure to prevent more data being overwritten.

Data is very difficult to get rid of completely, so there is a chance data is still there! I would definitely recommend ZAR!
