flyinghaggis Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 It suggests an action RPG style combat system to me. That might be the wrong terminology, but I mean similar to FFXII: I really hate that... I dunno, I quite enjoyed the combat in FFXII! I thought it was cool how you could basically 'program' the characters to perform certain actions like heal when low on health, auto-buff themselves and attack. Removed a whole layer of tedious micromanagement and made the combat more entertaining to watch IMO. I'd be quite happy if they brought that back for the FF7 remake.
foofighterjim Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 Yeah Joe on Teiho or something like that. Providing your Chocobo has the stamina though you can usually break away at the start and cruise after 2/3 of the distance. The other main problem is when you're trying to breed one blue and one green and your mating pair keep producing birds of the same colour! Takes forver to get another go at it. And then there's getting the damn Carob nuts, that's time consuming too. I never pushed for Omnislash on Disc 1, never had the patience for the Battle Arena. Meteorain was more than enough to see of most of the early bosses **SPOILER - In the Chocobo races you can get virtually unlimited stamina on the PS1 by holding L1 and L2 down (if I remember properly). You can go at maximum pace and sprint for large parts too. Only grind of note I ever did was getting Aeris Ultimate Limit (Great Gospel) and using it during the boss fight in the Temple of the Ancients.

Yeah but you still need to cool off before then end otherwise you get overtaken on the final corner by everyone Only grind of note I ever did was getting Aeris Ultimate Limit (Great Gospel) and using it during the boss fight in the Temple of the Ancients. I've actually never done that. I didn't use her much first time around, and then she ends up so i never bothered on any re plays. Edited June 19, 2015 by ICTDirect_Dave
LosOjos Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 Only grind of note I ever did was getting Aeris Ultimate Limit (Great Gospel) and using it during the boss fight in the Temple of the Ancients. If that was on your first play through, I imagine you were pretty p'd at how that turned out!
foofighterjim Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 If that was on your first play through, I imagine you were pretty p'd at how that turned out! No it was on my 3rd play through, in order to get it you need to make a conscious effort to make sure she is in your active party whenever possible. And know where her Ultimate limit is hidden, back then this sort of thing was harder to find out!
Nosirra Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 It was certainly a very impressive trailer, but i'm just so pessimistic that a game of this magnitude could be remastered to an impressive modern quality without enormous cuts to content. Time will tell!
sted Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 back then this sort of thing was harder to find out! not sure if that's a good or bad thing. I did once complete some snes rpg that was entirely in Japanese and even somehow collected every item (will the inventory was 100% full) without being able to read a word of it. These days I get stuck for more than 15 mins I just google it as its less frustrating but probably miss a fair chunk of the fun that way
mthomas08 Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 If that was on your first play through, I imagine you were pretty p'd at how that turned out! Having done that my self, yes............. Her and Barrett was my main setup so you can imagine how I felt when......... this was also a time when I didn't use any guide books so I assumed what happened could be undone so I went through everything possible.. in the hope of altering her fate.

And then you learned... if it happens in a cutscene, you can't undo it.
Grey-gear Posted December 8, 2015 Author Posted December 8, 2015 (edited) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oMWEjWCwjzM Looks good but as it still early things may change, video shows small bits of the gameplay and some story Edited December 8, 2015 by Grey-gear
X-13 Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 2 words. Multipart release. Looks good, but I'm out.
Tesla Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 2 words. Multipart release. Looks good, but I'm out. Wondered when you'd pipe up with that I'm still buzzing for it, even with that.
X-13 Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 (edited) Wondered when you'd pipe up with that I was hype... and then they said that. I'm still buzzing for it, even with that. TBH, it's Square being Square, trying to get the most money from the least effort. Edited December 8, 2015 by X-13
foofighterjim Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 PS4 Exclusive, looks like I'm out too. It would be a pretty expensive one off purchase!
sted Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 PS4 Exclusive, looks like I'm out too. It would be a pretty expensive one off purchase! that's pretty much my thoughts BUT isn't it a TIMED exclusive meaning xbone / nx / pc may get it later? Episodic if done right and not stupidly expensive or have huge gaps between parts I can live with
