will_ Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 (edited) Hi All, As often seems to be the case, I think I'm probably asking the impossible. My wish list is: - micro form factor, to be mounted between the monitor and its stand - reasonable future-proofing (maybe i5 processor, although I concede my knowledge is out of date in this area) - reasonable value I fear I may have to choose two of the above. It's for a primary school ICT Suite, so mega-performance isn't really an issue but longevity of service is. I was looking at the Dell OptiPlex 3020, which gives me form factor and price, but only comes with an i3 processor. Shame because I like Dell. I'd welcome your thoughts! Edited June 15, 2015 by will_
Edu-IT Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 You want a NUC? This sort of thing. NUC | Desktop PCs | Stone Group 2
VeryPC_Colin_M Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 Yep, a NUC would suit this opportunity. For maximum future proofing at the least cost something like this https://www.very-pc.co.uk/products/desktop-pc/flex with the monitor mount kit could work for you too as the cable config would be neater. Ta, Col

zag Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 We use the very pc nano sketches behind all our screens now. No need for large PC's. They work great and mount to any vesa monitor. I think the vesa bracket is included with the price. https://www.very-pc.co.uk/products/nano-pc/nano-sketch 2

will_ Posted June 15, 2015 Author Posted June 15, 2015 Thanks, all. I have a few quotes being drawn up as we speak, for NUCs, Lenovos and Nanos.
Stone_Charli Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 Hi @will_, You're not asking the impossible at all! We've just launched a new NUC with 5th gen processors, and you can choose between i3, i5 and i5 vPro. You can also mount them onto the back of your monitors. If you'd like some prices, please feel free to drop me a PM with your details and I can put you in touch with one of our account managers!
andypitts Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 Might be a bit late with this reply but we've just ordered a few HP ProDesk 400 G1 http://store.hp.com/UKStore/Merch/Product.aspx?id=L9T60EA&opt=ABU&sel=DEF. Haven't tried them yet but the specs look good (inc. SSD), the price is good and HP have cash back deals at the moment.
andypitts Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 ...Meant to add, that's the DM (desktop mini) form factor
forkies Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 We just got some Dell Optiplex 3020 Micros which have a VESA mount, this mounts to the back of the screen and then can be mounted to an arm mount or use the normal feet stand.
Edu-IT Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 I didn't say it was Dan..? (yet..) I know you didn't? I was looking to link to it, but had to link to Stone instead, that was all. Wanted to make sure I wasn't missing your links. ;-)
