Lost web management access to Procurve 5308xl

During a http session while saving, my browser bombed out. Since then I've been unable to access the switch using it's default vlan IP address

 

I've managed to gain access via console serial and checked the config (using the menu items) and show run but cannot see anything wrong.

 

Anyone seen this before or have any suggestions - I've not done much HP config so was wondering if going into enable more, disabling web-management and then saving might help but I don't want to end up with a knackered config on our core switch.

Can you schedule a restart via console and see if it clears, you might have a stuck admin session!

I have power cycled it out of hours but no luck

Hmm. Let me read some stuff as I'm sure I've seen this before.

 

Just while I do that, do you have Procurve Manager software installed anywhere? It might be a handy way in.

What do the logs say around the time it stopped responding?

 

show logging

 

Does running config differ from startup config?

 

show running-config status

 

and check that you haven't got no web-management set anywhere.

 

if you telnet to 443 (or 80 if you're a Plain Text Offender) on the switch do you get any kind of response?

 

You may want to enable SSH while debugging:

 

ip ssh

 

(and optionally, for file transfer)

 

ip ssh filetransfer

Oaktech, I don't have the management software installed (but I did download it today)

 

Pete, I'll check the logging and see if I can recall the day/time and compare the configs. I cannot even telnet, then again I cannot even ping it either and report back Monday

Ok, when I check the status of the running config it reports 'running config has been changed and needs to be saved'.......................would this be a result of those changes I did last week when my browser bombed out during saving?

 

Having checked the logging, every record seems to be 1990 (I got fed up after 10/15 pages)

 

Also, when I control-c out of logging and typed 'logout', it asked if I wanted to save the configuration although I hadn't changed anything (all I'd done was view logging)
