We are looking at purchasing Solidworks, and I was just wondering if there are any preferred routes to purchasing the software or do you just go through your own software house?

We just ditched SolidWorks - after 6 years of annual updates of 4Gb a piece on to each workstation, and next academic year it only works on 64-bit platform, it was time to go. We are now using Creo3.

 

We got SolidWorks, on a 60 user network license from Techsoft SolidWorks Education Edition for Secondary Schools and FE Colleges

We've also had a 60-user license from Techsoft for a number of years now. No issues.

We have Creo and its working great but the Technology dept have decided its not up to spec ???

Just contacted them and they have quoted nearly £3k less than our software house. So I am very happy

We were quoted £695 for 60 network licenses (+ 1 stand-alone) for the education edition of Solidworks from CADTek.

 

IIRC, Solid Solutions (another SolidWorks reseller) quoted us the same price.

Excellent. Solidworks here through Techsoft. As an additional comment, their support to us has been excellent.

We use NTCADCAM and their support is great and they provide training for IT staff as well
