Anyone had any experience of putting this on a network. Got it on a single PC but its a long winded process of local installs. Some of it says its network software but it still has to be installed locally and the only thing network about it is that you can specify a network folder to save the data to!

Yes

I have got the network software and I still had to go and install it locally I'm afraid - with a network folder as you say.

I spoke to the tech support lot and that is what they said

I'm sure someone clever could work out how to do it remotely but luckily it was in my smaller school with only 30 machines so it didn't take too long - even though we have 4 different programs

Yes I've got it to look forward to after Christmas! Really bad way of doing things. Looks like development of the product got the better of them and deadlines meant that some bits were left out or not fixed. Pitty really.

No way round it - as mentioned, server intstall and then client bit manually at each workstation. I'd definitely recommend downloading and printing the administrator's guide and following that carefully. I installed it at my largest (3 form entry) primary, they bought every conceivable title and it was a very, very big job! Best of luck.

You need to see if its capable of a silent install. Is it an exe or an MSI or and exe that kicks of an MSI. What exactly does it install? Can you copy the folder it installs to another machine or network share and get that to work? Can you convert it to an MSI by capturing the install using some MSI authoring software?

Recently (2 days ago) installed and deployed (remotely) i-planner, ITR, Talk Maths 1-6, Solve the problem 1-6. No problems. Why would you need to do the install manually at each client ? If you need a hand or some advice get in touch and we'll go through it.
