I have never seen a patch cable like this before. It must have found it's way into my inventory through some inferior product as I have only one. It was just kismet that I'd pick it up and use it on a core switch...

 

 

I've never seen a 100Mbit only cable before... Ergh!

I've got a few of those hiding somewhere, I think they were supplied with Thomson ADSL routers from either Plusnet or Be a few years ago.

My original NTL Terayon Terajet connection was supplied with a 100mbit cable like that, you dont mind it so much when your at 1meg, these days though you would go bananas.

I got caught out by one of these, I couldn't work out why my gigabit adapter was only negotiating at 10/100 took me more time to fix than I care to admit to....

Cut them in half when you find them, otherwise they'll pop up when you've been in a hurry and grabbed one!

That's mad, can't say I've ever seen one of these! You just presume being factory made that all 4 pairs would be patched, but there you go! Live and learn!

Found one last week, was using it to test some cables we'd just patched in and wondered why they were all identically failing. Was a flat one provided with a Bufallo NAS, ironically one with a gigabit NIC in.

I've seen one once I think... Cheap cables with cheap items. The saving in copper saves a fractions of a penny with each product sold.

Yep cables like that probably from an ADSL router or a games console. Why was it in your school in the first place??
