I've got a few of those hiding somewhere, I think they were supplied with Thomson ADSL routers from either Plusnet or Be a few years ago.

If you manage this successfully please report back.... I have a "1991 Queen's award for export - Designed in Britain, Used around the world" ICL (remember them??) mouse mat... stamped on the back is "Computer Gear, PA, USA" or similar, so shame they couldn't make the mouse mats in Britain with the PCs! Had it as long as I can remember and it's 2 or 3 times thicker than the standard 61p mouse mat.

They will authenticate at their "nearest" DC, so if there is no DC in their own site they will go to HO. Best to make a DC at each if you want people to still be able to authenticate if the link between sites goes down.

Has anyone tried 8.1 on older hardware? It's on my long list of things to try but I'm thinking more about the old Core 2 Duo PCs (2GB RAM) and, dare I say, Pentium D PCs (2GB RAM). Windows 7 is okay on the Core2Duos but crawls on the Pentium D machines. I've heard that it might be faster on the same hardware than Win7 so that's got to be a good point.

Does anything happen when you press Ctrl+Alt+Del when the login box isn't appearing? We've had issues with Viglen keyboards on Viglen PCs where sometimes on logging off/switching user the keyboard stops responding (so Ctrl+Alt+Del doesn't bring anything up), fixed temporarily by a reboot. They have a patch that fixes it (some sort of USB driver issue) but otherwise swapping to a different brand keyboard was our fix.
