mrbios Posted December 17, 2007 Report Posted December 17, 2007 Issue 1: Alot of teachers are getting a problem where the profiles arent loading the event viewer messages from these are as follows: Windows did not load your roaming profile and is attempting to log you on with your local profile. Changes to the profile will not be copied to the server when you logoff. Windows did not load your profile because a server copy of the profile folder already exists that does not have the correct security. Either the current user or the Administrator's group must be the owner of the folder. Contact your network administrator. For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp. Windows cannot find the local profile and is logging you on with a temporary profile. Changes you make to this profile will be lost when you log off. For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp. This is usually fixed fairly easily but none of the usual fixes are working this time, ive ran out of ideas and need some more, as a temporary fix all ive been able to do is copy the staff profile onto the teachers pc and rename it to there username which has loaded fine but im not sure why it wouldnt pick it up in the first place :S Issue 2: Teachers can add there own printers they normally do this by looking at the printers in the directory list but none of our printers are showing in the list anymore
Netman Posted December 17, 2007 Report Posted December 17, 2007 Sounds like you have a problem with AD or the server AD is on... have you run dcdiag and netdiag against it? Also check the entries for your AD machine in DNS are correct...
mrbios Posted December 17, 2007 Author Report Posted December 17, 2007 your right, there is an issue with AD replication (running a segmented network with multiple DCs) thats being worked on now, fingers crossed nearly ran out of address's on one dc too! oh dear!
