Popular Post strawberry Posted May 2, 2015 Popular Post Posted May 2, 2015 I may well be behind the times on this ( yes , yes, noah , fire in pudding lane etc etc) . As faculty staff in schools you are entitled to major discounts on MS exams. If you change your profile to have the occupation of student ( I know, your not, but the MS guy told me to) then you can verify you are a member of staff ( I scanned by p60 and put an honest note explaining not student but staff) then MS will allocate you exams from the 72 -** range which are cheaper. 6
Edu-IT Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 (edited) What sort of prices? Really? Knew nothing of this? How do you go about it? On the booking form choose Student as job role or edit profile on MS Learning site. Edited May 2, 2015 by Edu-IT 1
dblight Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 What sort of prices? On the booking form choose Student as job role or edit profile on MS Learning site. Just sent mine off to validation. Have you had yours confirmed yet?
dobsonl Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 That's good to know are the 72-XXX exams exactly the sa,e as the 70-xxx exams?
strawberry Posted May 11, 2015 Author Posted May 11, 2015 mine was done next day, and yup, exactly the same. 1
dblight Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 So you just take the 72-xxx instead of the 70-xxx? Same exams and same certs?
dobsonl Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 Sweet I've just registered mine... Hopefully this makes me get on and take the 70-412 exam!
dblight Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 Sweet I've just registered mine... Hopefully this makes me get on and take the 70-412 exam! I've just started re-studying for 70-412 again, failed it last year

dobsonl Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 Think that is my problem as well... Would be nice if they did what Cisco does and put some simulations in. 1
themightymrp Posted May 13, 2015 Posted May 13, 2015 What sort of prices? According to this page the exams would be £55 instead of the usual £99. I've only just found this thread so logged into the MCP member site to have a look. If you go to update your profile and change the occupation to "Student" then there is a link to follow to provide validation that you are a student/work in a school. I'm going to get a scan of either my P60 or contract and upload it. Should make future costs a bit sweeter 1
dblight Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 @strawberry - All verified! Thanks for the heads up. £55 instead of the normal £99. Luckily the school pays for exams but still a saving!
themightymrp Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 Did you upload a document as proof? Mine bounced me back :-/
dblight Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 Did you upload a document as proof? Mine bounced me back :-/ I managed to send it OK but heard nothing back. I contacted support as if you try it more than again it will say you have already done this. MCP Support couldn't sort it but pointed me to this chat session https://sales.liveperson.net/hc/21661174/?cmd=file&file=visitorWantsToChat&site=21661174&SESSIONVAR!campaign=officeUniversity explained and provided school details and they gave me a verification code. All sorted! 1
strawberry Posted May 21, 2015 Author Posted May 21, 2015 hmmm, may not appear as rosy as once hoped, i'm having to argue with a very basic English speaker about the status of my school!.
themightymrp Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 Same here actually. Did the online chat as mentioned above and got a phone number. Called that and they directed me to a support website where I could request specific help with the verification process. The site turned out to be a redirect to the chatroom above!!!!! AAARRRRGGGHHHH!!!! Those who have had success, what documentation did you upload? I find it annoying that even though we use Office 365 here, my school email address isn't recognised by their system as a school email address
dblight Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 I uploaded my P60 originally. When I heard nothing I sent off a support request, they couldn't help and pointed to the online chat I posted above. When chatting I mentioned I was going around in circles and no one has been able to sort it. She then asked for my school details and I gave School name - email address - school website She then generated and gave me a verification code! 1
themightymrp Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 I uploaded my P60 too. Was the code generation all done while you were in the chat session? Or over the phone?
dblight Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 I uploaded my P60 too. Was the code generation all done while you were in the chat session? Or over the phone? Whilst I was on the chat session. Try it again and lay it on thick that it's not been sorted!
jonnykewell1 Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 Uploaded my P60, got an email the same day with approval
strawberry Posted May 21, 2015 Author Posted May 21, 2015 Yup, the approval was the easy bit. Getting the money off is proving an impossible task for the many MS folk I have spoken too.
themightymrp Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 Don't you just book it through the MCP site and the discount is automatically applied?
