[android] Spec me a tablet please :)

Hey guys

 

I'm in the market for a good android tablet to replace my laptop so it needs to be fairly powerful etc... Just wondering what you'd all recommend. So far I've looked at the following though I'm worried because they're about a year old a new version will be just around the corner so I don't know whether to wait;

 

- Samsung Note Pro 12.2

- Samsung Galaxy Tab S

- Sony Xperia Z2

- Nexus 9

 

What would you go for and why!?

If the tablet is to replace your laptop have you looked in to the surface pro range ? (I know this isn't on your list but thought it's worth a mention)

We have been using Surface Pro's 2 & 3's at our MAT for the central team as they're always on the go. They're compact, lightweight and easy to set up and combined with our Office 365 email system we were able to download office apps for free

I recommended a Nexus 7 to my PT and apart from the fragility of it (he's on his 6th screen) it runs really well.

 

So I vote the Nexus.

I have but it's a lot of money then I want to spend in the region of £300 sorry should of specified Thanks though! @Joanne I find the Nexus 7 to small and the thing I think would annoy me about Nexus 9 is that it's 4:3 ratio screen not 16:9 meaning films and stuff give the nasty looking black bars etc, although it's specs are juicy and is currently available from John Lewis for £200 so makes it the cheapest. But I like the Samsung due to the multi-window stuffs and it's AMOLED screen Decisions Decisions.....

Isn't your laptop an absolute beast? In which case, no tablet made could replace it. Plenty that'll work as a supplement device, but there are times when only a PC will do.

I have a gaming Desktop that is a beast but "my" macbook was given to me by the school and I rarely ever take it home, it weighs a lot and is 15" so it's clunky. I want a small tablet for personal use that will compliment my Gaming machine at home

I brought a android tablet for that reason, hardly use it only really use it to watch films in bed and I use my phone the rest of the time not on PC

Makes sense. Personally, I'd consider a cheap Windows tablet at this price point too. Quite impressed with the little 8" Toshiba Encore for the money.
