IT_Ninja Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 Hi everyone So due to a mishap once again we are at data recovery ... Hoping someone has any recommendations for recovery software (free or paid) that is superb in recovering data that has been deleted and or likely overwritten. I have used easeus, recuva, pc inspector, puran, test disk which are all great tools but I'm looking for something of a higher grade with exceptional results Also recovery with folder structure would be helpful. Any suggestions welcome. Thanks all.

Tecleo Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 Hi there, When it comes to data recovery software the saying is true "what you pay is what you get" - especially if your data is important. I would recommend using a data recovery program like R-Studio. Should all your drive have been NTFS formatted then R-Studio NTFS at 49.99 USD should recover all your files - that is if you have not written back any data to the drive(s). A demo version can be downloaded to confirm the file system type and/or recover-ability of your data. Also you would need to purchase or loan a drive(s) of adequate capacity to recovery the lost data to. Do not under any circumstances copy any data to the drive(s) being recovered until you are 100% sure that your data was successfully recovered - that would include thoroughly testing the recovered data. 1
rich_tech Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 Test disk is excellent and quite easy to use for a Linux based program, pulls off lots of stuff, I don't bother with windows programs for majority of file recovery as windows doesn't play ball with broken disks a lot from experience

sacabonos Posted May 12, 2015 Posted May 12, 2015 If you're looking for a hardware aided solution take a look at MRT-Pro and PC-3000 I've heard good things about them and I've dealt with a repair shop which was using PC-3000 Chinese clone and it worked just fine.

jim_potter Posted May 12, 2015 Posted May 12, 2015 Another one for TestDisk here. The last one I did was a physically damaged disk, I copied everyhing I could off with ddrescue to make an image of the disk then testdisk'd it. OK it didn't work (not enough original data left) but I'm not sure how commercial software could have got much more off the disk itself. Jim
