Cheap ways to physically secure a Mac Mini?

Does anyone have a suggestion on how to physically secure a Mac Mini without buying a >$50 mount? It doesn't have to be secure against a professional theft, just staff/students taking them away.

 

I've heard of "locking" USB adapters but haven't seen them. I thought of simply tapping a hole for a screw, but to do so safely would require taking it apart, which is too laborious for an entire lab.

Only way I can think of is to drill a hole in the baseplate over one of the lugs that it latches on to, then replace the lug with a longer bolt that then goes into a solid mounting point like a metal plate bolted to a desk.

I hadn't seen that product before. However, it says it's not compatible with the current Mac Minis.

For the current model, all I can think of would be a bolt-on cage for it. It's a great piece of design for home use, but a pain in a school (I have 32 Late 2014 models).

Does it have to be pretty? Could you get D&T to knock up a pair of suitably sized U shaped clamps that you can screw to a desk with tamper proof screws?

We have some of those. The brackets are good but the "lock" (actually a screw) is terrible, you can undo it with your fingernails and half the time the thread on the screwhole gets stripped so the bolt just rotates.

Nope. But I'm starting to think that this might be the most practical solution.

I've used similar products and they aren't much cop. Sticking plastics together is notoriously difficult and I've been able to pull the block off with my fingers. This will however, slow down the thief who will grab an item and run off with it, which might be all the security you need.
