OSD & updates to begin with, then installing application after. Packages & collections? To be fair, it's going to take me a while to figure out which ISOs are the correct ones to download!

Norphy Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 I've said it plenty of times before and I'll continue to keep on saying it. SCCM is a huge subject. Microsoft themselves describe it as one of their most complex products. The Getting Started guides from Windows Noob and the like are a good place to get started but if you really want to get a solid grounding in the product, I would highly recommend going on the official Microsoft training courses. They give you an extremely thorough overview of all of the areas in SCCM including installation, maintenance and troubleshooting. They cover all of the features including what @FN_GM talked about as well as software metering, DCM, Endpoint Protection and Asset Intelligence. You also get to interact with a real live instructor who will (presumably) have extensive experience with the product and will be able to ask questions and get answers in a way that you just can't do on an internet forum, no matter how good it is. I realise that they are not cheap courses but if you're planning to manage your entire infrastructure using SCCM, it's money very well spent.

sparkeh Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 Oh another thing, I reckon I learnt a lot more about SCCM than anything else by reading and understanding the logfiles. Check both the server and client logs out after deploying the client, after deploying software, after pushing updates, after (and during actually) OSD and you will get a really good understanding of how the client and server interact and how SCCM gets stuff done.
