Sharp OSA with rfid card (mifare) and Papercut MF

We can't get our sharp mfd's to authenticate using cards. (Sharp mfd, embedded papercut talking to MF server)

Does anyone have this already setup and working?

We do, does your card reader beep to acknowledge a card? We had this issue and our supplier changed the reader mode in the firmware of the reader.

Yep - had this working for Papercut MF trial last month. Same Sharp OSA and card readers as PCounter, which we currently use - just with Papercut trial on one copier temporarily.

Happy to help out - we have a whole bunch of different sites using Sharp copiers with RFID cards, so something's not quite right.

 

Do you get any sorts of beeps or lights on the reader when it's connected? That'll be the first place to start. Basically, does the copier itself register that the card reader is being plugged in, and is it reading swipes okay. After that, if it all seems to be functioning like a normal reader on the copiers end, check the PaperCut admin console's App Log tab to see if there's any errors about incorrect card reads - maybe it does register the card but there's something on the reader that's manipulating the number we read directly.

 

Hopefully this helps - let me know if not and we can check some other stuff.

Have you enabled within PaperCut and then devices the tick box for card reader and self association?

 

Also by default the card reader needs enabling within the engineers mode on Sharp's so a good start like NicolasCage said is to check to see if you get any beeps.

If you plug the reader into a PC does it beep ok and output into notepad?

Have you put the card code into papercut? We put the card code I to Active directory and sync it across.
