DCUK6 Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 We have a load of machines that are all the same brand and they all get static through the front audio jack. Nothing from the rear. They have changed the motherboard after 3 weeks for us but still get it. Anyone else get it on any other machines?

Mako Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 I once had a Thermaltake Kandalf case. The front audio ports were poorly shielded, the shielding did not snugly fit and there were gaps. This would cause horrible audio static at times, and it would actually fluctuate depending on how the jack was rotated in the slot. Static through the front panel is either bad grounding or interference from other sources of power. If it's with all your machines, sounds like a problem with the construction of the chassis and/or the cables used to connect the front ports to the motherboard.

difinity Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 (edited) Does it make a difference if they have the power adapter plugged in or not ? We had certain rooms at my old school that had this issue but was down to a grounding issue as it went away if you unplugged the adapter. Applies to laptops, not desktops. Sounds like crappy cables to the front connector to me. No pun intended. Edited March 31, 2015 by difinity
