ChrisH Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 We seem to have had a few occasions where pupils are suddenly missing weeks/months of achievement points that were there previously. Is there any kind of logging that exists/can be turned on to try and audit the deletion of such things?

I seem to be missing a few months worth in some cases and I know they were there the week before as we run a report off every week. I'm pretty sure they wont just disappear but I'm going to ask the question anyway.

Phil I think you need to supply an audit trail on behaviour and on achievements as to "who deleted a record / and against which student". Someone deleted 4 students behaviour incidents just before the Christmas Break . The only way I could confirm this had happened was by comparing the weekly behaviour reports I run (and save the output as a named excel filed) against the current behaviour points on the database. It is major weakness in SIMS that many records have no audit trails. It should not be difficult to setup as you can do it by automated 'deletion' triggers that are activated on the deletion of ROWS on the respective database tables i.e. the SQL code on the trigger creates a new row in a Behaviour_Audit or Achievement_Audit table or whatever you are auditing...... just a few columns in the table.... student / date time deleted / deleted by user id / terminal id (I assume you have this somewhere) / keys to identify the actual record deleted ....jobs a good' un Regards Phil Edited January 14, 2016 by bwfc_nottingham typo error 1

vikpaw Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 It disgusts me that we have to request this sort of audit. We should be dealing with professionals, and yet this issue crops up time and again and it's not just accidental deletion or user error. :(

haldarulon Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 To be honest I have been in situations where teachers have left learners alone in a class and the learner has deleted the behaviours! even though you tell the teachers they still do not understand the importance of not letting learners loose on your machine! also I have a sneaky suspicion that some learners are IT literate and have managed to log in as teachers (because the word password is so secure!)

Far be it for me to state on a public forum that a teacher has left their pc 'unlocked' therefore allowing a student access to their apps and data ! Regards Phil
liamrobinson Posted January 24, 2018 Posted January 24, 2018 This is still happening in 2018. Happened a couple of times now with both achievement and behaviour points disappearing. I think there's a undetected snag within SIMS causing this, there is the possibility that a teacher has left their machine unlocked however each time there's been no known link between the students it's happened to, they are not in the same friendship groups or even classes so that seems unlikely as the first thing a student would do is delete their mates or their behaviour points. Any news on this tracking?
