jonathon28 Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 Hi all, Bit of a strange one, Have captured an image of a Windows 7 laptop and pushed out to others via WDS. Imaging completes and I create local account, set time zone etc, then I log on. Upon logging on (locally or domain) windows logs off after about 10 seconds. Tried logging in 6-8times and it still does the same. Any ideas? Tried restarting and same happens. Tried setup on another laptop and does the same.
Michael Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 Can you dial into the workstation via mmc and check the event logs? Can you login OK if you boot up in Safe Mode with Networking? 1
themightymrp Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 Could be either a corrupt profile or a dodgy registry key at HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current Version\Winlogon. The userinit value should be C:\Windows\system32\userinit.exe - I've seen it mess up before and cause the logging off issue. You should be able to fix this if you have network access to the machine 1
jonathon28 Posted March 25, 2015 Author Posted March 25, 2015 I checked registry key, userinit. There was a '.' at the end. Deleted this and its worked fine now. Strange how it got there! Thanks all!
