daneil16 Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 Was not quite sure what section to post this in; but our school is now looking to buy our first laser. I have been asked to gather some information as I am the IT guy and am most familiar with this stuff! lol Does anyone know a good place to start? We are thinking about an A3 size printer. Aside from that I know little about them Any advice would be greatly received. Thanks
3s-gtech Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 IME, make sure you get a decent machine with a strong support contract. Random no-brand Chinese models with proprietary software are cheap, with good reason (we have one). You want one that can work with pretty much nay software you throw at it (like 2D Design, CorelDRAW etc without having to export the file.
pcstru Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 Avoid cheap Chinese imports (unless you really know a lot about the technology). Talk to hpc laser if you can. You will need a room with something available which you can vent externally to.
plexer Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 If I were buying one today for a school I would get an HPC one. LS6040PRO Laser engraving and cutting machine laser engraving cutting machine [LS6040PRO] - £3,995.00 : laser engraving machines laser cutting machines, HPC laser LTD Ben 1
caffrey Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 We have the 6090 pro from HPC, nice machine - it's big so make sure you have the space
plexer Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 Or the 6090 as that also dismantles to go through a standard door. Ben
