Quackers Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 I had some free time last night so decided to give it ago, this morning my eye hurts and i lost an evening, which is not good as I'm doing a complete primary system rip out and replace this weekend, so i don't get a day off until next Friday and all i want to do is play this game.
featured_spectre Posted March 27, 2015 Author Posted March 27, 2015 Like I said...this game is like Crackabis.
abillybob Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 I've created a new city. My old one I seemed to expand to quickly and things like traffic and services where having problems. Slow and steady I think wins the race here and only build what's in demand at the time then wait a bit to earn more cash and then build again. My new city is going great, looks so pretty because I spent time on it now Ahhhhhh!!!!! The coal power stations say they're running low on resources or something, does anyone know how to fix this? I though it just imported coal from somewhere else!?
featured_spectre Posted March 27, 2015 Author Posted March 27, 2015 If you have a specialisation in industry that does mining or drilling (ore or oil), its going to go for that first before it starts importing. For best "bang for buck" power, it goes... Fusion Plant (which is a pain to build up to as you need to unlock almost all buildings and have 80k population) Solar Advanced Wind Turbines Coal This is in terms of long term running costs. Plus once you build a fusion plant, you will literally never run out of power. I had one on a full 5x5 tile map, and maxed everything out, and didn't come close to the 16GW it produced (I got to nearly 10GW)

Joanne Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 the elusive button in the top left... there is a natural resources button on there (y) I didn't find this until about 12 hours in
JRowley Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 The hydro dam can be good for power if you can get the full 1600MW out of it, a friend of mine managed to achieve it on the island map as there is a valley with a river flowing through it which you can dam and get the full about without it flooding.
CAM Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 I've finally unlocked nuclear and replaced all of my power systems with a pair of nuclear plants. They sit next to the motorway in an industrial district with a harbour. Combined with the incinerators, I have enough power to keep me going and it's clean (except the incinerators, they are there for garbage disposal). It does mean the dam is switched off to save money but still sitting there as it's a river crossing and looks cool! I'll make an imgur album when I get round to it as I am closing in on 90,000 people.
featured_spectre Posted March 27, 2015 Author Posted March 27, 2015 When you unlock All monuments, that's great. The education facility is brilliant....1 building can accommodate 3 million peoples education (1 million elementary, 1 million highschool, 1 million university).
pcstru Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 I started again from a city of 120,000 because I'd used a couple of mods and I didn't realise things like the fusion plant wouldn't unlock with mods loaded. It was quite a nice city too!
featured_spectre Posted March 27, 2015 Author Posted March 27, 2015 I've unlocked ALL buildings now...Eiffel tower was the worst to unlock. lol. But got everything now
Sunnyknight Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 Kept off this game due to garbage and crematorium bug. Are these fixed??
featured_spectre Posted March 27, 2015 Author Posted March 27, 2015 the dead people bug is still being worked on but a modder has made a mod where the death clock is different for almost all cims (obviously bound to be some overlap). The garbage bug where the bin men dont pick up the garbage has been fixed, but the solution is a bit of an issue. The bin men WILL now travel further and pick up more, but in doing so, they obviously leave other areas alone when they get to 100% so the partial solution is to have your incinerators and land fills spaced around (I suggest keeping 1 landfill per tile and then dart incinerators everywhere so you can generate power and have the landfills for the extra garbage trucks.
Sunnyknight Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 Garbage bug where not all trucks in use. Ie 2/32 across 6 facilities. Same with crematorium. Featured gas covered this and ill look into the mod today. Also.... i hate expanding Ill post a pic of my current city. Having traffic issues. Need suggestions.
featured_spectre Posted March 27, 2015 Author Posted March 27, 2015 6 lane 1 way ring round all around your districts. 2 way roads for everything else. Traffic will flow nicely. You're welcome.
soapyfish Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 (edited) This is my first small city around 8000 people http://cloud-4.steamusercontent.com/ugc/529511306323126367/7902086EBC971B133B99D48EC6002648002D4883/2048x1152.resizedimage Edited March 27, 2015 by soapyfish
abillybob Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 Here's my new city that I've been working on since yesterday Cant wait till lunch break soon I have so many plans!!!!!
CAM Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 (edited) Ahhh those water pumps! Move them upstream to the other river, if you put them next door the sewage can flow back upstream if you apply too much draw and get sucked into your water system even if the outlet is downriver of the pumps. Edited March 27, 2015 by CAM
featured_spectre Posted March 27, 2015 Author Posted March 27, 2015 No @CAM...let him poison his people! lol
abillybob Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 Well atleast its not a grid. What do ya mean!?!?! Ahhh those water pumps! Move them upstream to the other river, if you put them next door the sewage can flow back upstream if you apply too much draw and get sucked into your water system even if they are downriver of the pumps. Ah ok cheers didn't know this
Joanne Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 hahahah.... what is with those roads?! You desperately need more houses....
