tech_guy Posted December 10, 2007 Author Posted December 10, 2007 My main problem is that I just like food too much.

rhyds Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 i implure everyone should buy belgian chocolate sauce from tesco's (£1.48) oh my god it is sooooooo good! Please don't temp me, the thought of pies followed by ice cream is enough without chocolate sauce as well
tech_guy Posted December 10, 2007 Author Posted December 10, 2007 i implure everyone should buy belgian chocolate sauce from tesco's (£1.48) oh my god it is sooooooo good! Is that like in a squeezy bottle. OMG if it is!
russdev Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 Take up a sport like horse riding. As a bonus you get to meet lots of ladies. I find there tends to be a high ratio of horse riders in schools. So you can arrange pub rides in the summer. I do ride - we have two horses at the moment but as there are three of us (me, wifey & daughter) I tend to end up with mucking out the stables and clearing the paddocks rather than riding :-( There is joke here about getting the sh&t end of the deal but I will not lower myself to that tone. rhyds Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 One thing that did keep me fit was my old Fantic FM 350 trials bike, mainly because it needed pushing a lot...
Joanne Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 its in a tub like the fresh custard is.... its really creamy and chocolaty and you can eat it on its own... *drool* I hope the tesco express up the road from work has some!!

Oh well, looks like I'll be starting my diet next week instead.....
Joanne Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 as long as you have everything in proportion... it'll be ok. Eat lots of fruit and veg to balance everything out :-P it also makes you feel better!!
tom_newton Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 I'd suggest that the advice here: http://www.fourmilab.ch/hackdiet/ is pretty damn good. Worked for me, though i'm now gaining weight due to my better half's inability to cook inedible food, a trick i'd managed to perfect
crc-ict Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 I'm in the same boat, the plan is either to start hill walking with an MP3 player or to set up a media centre type-thing in the spare room with one of those home multigyms, bach while benchpressing sounds fun Sounds like a quality justification to the Mrs for getting a media-centre! I like the plan

Joanne Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 they didn't have any of that chocoalte sauce
Domino Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 I remeber a while back there was a bit of research done that said if you fidget alot at work it could burn some ridiculous amount of calories. Its my excuse for constantly tapping my feet and/or desk!
tech_guy Posted December 10, 2007 Author Posted December 10, 2007 I once drank a whole bottle of maple syrup........
Joedetic Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 Get a bike and get some tyres that are better suited to road as opposed to mountain bike tyres or you'll soon give up because you'll find it too hard on longer rides. I've been taking a house mate, who's after loosing some weight, cycling. Don't chicken out at the steep hills and just try and build up a tolerance to it. I find that it helps keep the gut under control. Of course, mine would be in better control if I wasn't a student and hadn't had both dominos pizza and two curries last week. But....i'm not fat so i must be doing something right. Eat sensibly (ie no snacking in between meals and eat proper meals ... maybe a bit of salad) and get some decent exercise.
StewartKnight Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 I can resist anything.... except temptation!

I do cycle (I have two bikes) but like everything it's finding the time to do it on a regular basis. Apart from drinking bottles of maple syrup I do eat a pretty balanced diet with very few snacks or treats. The main problem is at work where I tend to spend 5 out of the 7.5 working hours sat down in front of a PC. Perhaps I need to replace my chair with an exercise bike!
Joanne Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 you can buy those little pedal things that you can 'cycle' on whilst sat down...
projector1 Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 got a total gym off ebay £50 quid, excellent little device. Also our new tech hub is at the highest point of the school thus loads of steps to climb daily. It kills me walking from the car park to the office every morning.
tech_guy Posted December 10, 2007 Author Posted December 10, 2007 you can buy those little pedal things that you can 'cycle' on whilst sat down... A colleague has suggested I rollerblade around the site. Is that with or without ankle warmers?
Joanne Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 depends if they will match your tie (assuming you wear one)
russdev Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 Problem is while we are young our bodies cope with all the food very well but start to hit 25 you find the body dosn't cope with all intake of rubbish as before. We also become less active around this age due to various reasons family, work etc. Well that is what I am telling myself anyway Russ
