Makerbot internet issues

Hi,

 

Hoping someone can help. A primary school I support have received a 3D printer - it's a Makerbot replicator mini.

Iv'e downloaded the desktop app but it when I try to log in it tells me it's not connected to the internet even though I can browse web etc. The school use proxy settings and I was wondering if there something I need to do to allow it to connect to the internet? I've tried their website but that's hasn't been very helpful so far.

I am having the same issue, downloaded and installed the Makerbot Print software but I can't even sign into it. I have tried using the proxy settings we use in school to get access to the internet but no luck. Don't fancy the phone bill for calling America but will if I have to

Try setting proxy options in DHCP (252 WPAD) and DNS (wpad.school.region.sch.uk) on your DHCP and DNS servers.

 

If that doesn't work, set the default gateway of the connected PC to your proxy server, filter the logs by the IP of the PC to see what it's trying to contact and then set auth exceptions / allow rules as appropriate.

I know this is an old thread but has anyone managed to find out what exceptions are needed to get this to work. We just get Connection Error when trying to log in.

Just been asked to get this to work!

 

Not playing through our smoothwall, did anyone manage to get a filter list required for this software?

I never got it to be able to work with logging in. However after talking to their support I was able to get a work around. Basically they gave me a user.json file which had to be placed into the AppData and then it bypassed the login and essentially made the program work in what they call offline mode.

 

I will dig it out today and ping up what they sent me.

Downloaded the file "user_config.json"

 

Can you advise which folder this needs the file?

 

Once in place, should the software just open without a logon prompt?

I forgot that isn't on the website sorry we have an internal kb for it now, and yeah it just skips the logon totally

I replaced one in : Users\\AppData\Roaming\Makerbot\MakerbotPrint

 

and it seemed to make no difference :/
