featured_spectre Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 (edited) It came under building cover as it was core to the building and not contents which could be removed or stolen (atleast not with ease). *edit* I should add, the insurance company do everything from start to finish, including receipt of funds to cover the cost and paying the extra (atleast thats what I negotiated). After this, I was locked into a fixed fee addition to my home insurance (think it was £3.50 a month extra for 5 years all told - which came too £210 over the 5 years). This is a bargain for me as we would have had to have paid for the windows and doors ourselves, which would have been more than the £210. On top of this, the windows and doors that got put in were security ones, so it actually knocked money off our insurance premium as well Edited February 23, 2015 by featured_spectre

featured_spectre Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 @AdamzB please tell me how you were there when this was negotiated nearly 4 years ago (as an existing customer for pet, car and contents insurance), I would be enthralled to hear your answer. Before this becomes a flame war, I shall bow out in the knowledge that what I have said is true.
Tesla Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 Not 100% Sure what's been said on here, but just my thoughts. Have you considered shared ownership? I managed to get a 5% deposit deal through Leeds building Society (and there was no booking fee and no survey fees), (hopefully) moving into a 2 bed new build with my other half in the village she lives in next month, just awaiting said survey and mortgage offer.
