Are these Touch Panels any good

I've been sent this by the head wanting to know if they are any good. I can't find any info, does anybody know if they are any good?

If you are after anything like this get in touch with interactive education, they do brilliant screens.

Depends on the price as well... cheapest probably isn't going to be bestest!

I would recommend checking out a few brands - maybe get a few on site demos.

I think most of them get their parts from the same factories anyway, but it would be nice to know the manufacturer. We have 8 Elo (Elo Touch Solutions — Touch Solutions for Retail, Hospitality, Interactive Digital Signage (IDS), Industrial, Medical, Gaming, Transportation, Handheld and Mobile) screens here running sustainability dashboards and never had an issue with them.

At BETT this year I had a look at Prowise's stand. The hardware looked very good - 4k (3840 x 2160) display, 10-point multi-touch, plus motorised stands that could be height-adjusted to match junior / senior pupil heights and could turn through 90 degrees to make the display into a table. For comparison, the screens you are looking at would seem to be HD (1920 x 1080), possibly two-point multi-touch (unsure: "frame-type: dual" is a bit vauge - Windows 8 requires 5-point multi-touch for every gesture to be available) and the frame doesn't move. Prowise's software looked very good, too - web-based, and can import Smartboard files. We've had a quote for around £4,000 for one board (including VAT and motorised stand), I don't know what price you've been quoted for the above.

If £2,000 is the price you've been quoted for a 65" HD touch screen then that's not bad - maybe not top-of-the-range, but it sounds decent enough for the price. You might want to see if you can get a demo of the touch functionality before you buy one, just to make sure it responds okay.

worth hands on demo with any screen, they are not all the same, some are cheap for a reason.... many hours right up close, so worth getting it right.

Unfortunately they don't. I would be dubious of an unbranded product as you may find that although you can find one for your price, that may be no good if its shoddy quality and warranty isn't up to scratch.

it's like the projector education business ten years ago; many many brands, product with similar looking spec but widely varying quality, warranty nightmares, but with experience it wasnt just about the inital price.

I've just got an advert by email this morning for the InFocus JTouch 65" board, which seems to have very similar specifications to the one above - 2-point touch, HD (1920 x 1080) screen. That's advertised at £1,850 + VAT, and that price doesn't include a stand or installation. We've found InFocus' projectors to be good value for the money we paid for them - they were cheaper projectors, but lasted years and we got our money's worth out of them. The same could well be true of their touch screens - they might not be the snazziest available, but they if they do what you want then that's okay. Personally, I figured the advantage of paying for the ProWise motorised stand was that you didn't then need to sort out installation, you just wheel them into the classrom and plug them in, but it's going to depend on where you want to use the screen whether that's appropriate for yourself - you might find you need to get someone to install the screen for you.
