I've been sent this by the head wanting to know if they are any good. I can't find any info, does anybody know if they are any good? http://www.swiftpage4.com/CampResource/2W16A7C3II7PG35S/1/text.pdf

Ok I think I've finally got somewhere. The installers didn't set the home position (they just left it on 20 & 20). I read the install manual and configured this correctly (I think... as we are projecting onto the wall so there is no depth it should be set to 3 & 3) now the slider tool has a much easier job of drawing the outline however I'm now getting a reset home position error. Any Ideas? It says to refer to the Manuel but the only thing in there is what I've already done. Regards Dan

Ah I'll check that out, however I think I have latest version I can have (the newest version seems to require a new license)

Yes I believe so the "boards" are totally flat as they are either just a painted wall or a sheet with no bezel at all, the projector is installed on the same wall.

Hi I was wondering if you could help me out. The academy I work for are replacing their very old whiteboards (still had serial ports) with Smart Lightraise 60wi's. They don't have whiteboards but work via some sort of light curtain (the head picked these out because they were cheaper than boards) that lets you write on the wall. The pens work great but of the three we've put up so far none of them have let me get the finger gestures working, two of them just fail right after the first pass with the calibration tool and the third makes me play with the dials for a while before failing (by failing I mean I get one star and it says we have to use the pens). Two of them are projected onto a wall painted with shinny whiteboard paint and the last one we put up a bit of white sheeting we found in the basement, this however wasn't flat but they are getting a new sheet for me to try. I did suggest the proper boards but was told they cost too much! Am I missing something out or is this simply a case of the surfaces being rubbish (the painted walls aren't bad but are a bit bumpy). I would like to hear any tips and tricks people use to get these things working.

Hi I'm having an issue at one of the schools I look after. A new teacher started at the beginning of term (well swapped from another school in the academy), she hasn't used a windows machine for years so talked the head into letting her take her mac with her, whilst I've managed to sort most things out I just can't get the smart board working on it, the drivers were already installed and her mac works fine on all the boards at her old school using the same dongle (she's even gone back and double checked for me during a meeting they had there) and the board works fine on the windows machines at the new school, I've also installed the drivers on my mac and that doesn't want to know either on any of the 3 boards at this school (all the same model SB580 if that helps) but works fine at the old school . I'm at my wits end with it, has anyone got any ideas?

Hi One of the schools I'm working with has a mainly mac setup with macbooks and a mac snow leopard server, however due to the cost of macs they now have got 30+ windows machines. The macs are all managed from the mac server and I'm happy with the way that works, however we need to control the windows machines. We have a windows server 2008 r2 server currently being used as a file server, I've found loads of articles about adding a mac server to a windows domain but is there a way to add the windows server to the mac domain (or whatever they call it on a mac). What I want is to leave the files etc where they are as everything is working really well with the macs and I don't want to mess that up so I just want the windows server to handle group policy and leave the mac server deal with log ins etc, if that isn't possible then is there any way to import the mac open directory over without causing to much chaos.

Ok I've finally got back out there (I only really get out there once a month as I have so many schools to deal with 2 days a week). I've tried everything on here to no avail , dell haven't updated the wifi drivers and It seems to only be the Dell Vostro 3560's that are causing the headache but they are the only Windows 7 laptops there. I've actually found one doing it myself now, if I log it on and off a few times it fails once or twice in ten logins and with I run gpupdate /force and log off it seems to solve the problem until I shut down (although that could have just been luck) so I have written them a small batch file the teachers can run to sort the issue quickly for now but it's only a stop gap and I'd like this sorted because there seeing it as a ton of different issues (due to all the side effects).

Hi One of the schools I support have purchased 2 screens, 2 apples TV's and a mac book pro. I have airplay working great to one screen or the other BUT the head wants it mirrored on both screens at the same time, I don't think it's possible but he insists he's seen it mirror 5 screens at once at some show he went to in London. Is there a way to do this? Many Thanks

Hi, yes I believe the group policy has been applied as I've forced it and 9/10 times everything works fine. I'll double check though. I don't think I have any GPP stuff set but again I'll check. Thanks for the ideas so far, any more would be welcome as the the school are starting to get annoyed about this issue as it mucks so much stuff up.

Ok checked that in the zone director (they have ruckess wifi) and it is already set to WPA AES. I will try updating the wifi card drivers next time I'm out there. Any other ideas?

Hi I'm having issues at one school where the group policy's are not always applying. They are logging in and losing desktops, documents etc also printers aren't mapping, unfortunately it never seems to happen when I'm there. I have startup policy processing time set to 5mins and always wait for the network at computer startup and logon set but they are still reporting this fault. Any idea what might be causing it? Many Thanks

Thanks for both ideas. Currently trying out autopatcher, can't seem to get it to pick any updates up after Feb 2013 though. Will look into WSUS offline as well.

Hi I'm hoping theres an answer to this. Is there any way to download windows updates to say a NAS drive and run them from there, I'm currently in a school that uses a mac server for some reason so the windows machines are completely unmanaged. I've turned one on this morning and the updates are a year out of date and the virus scanner is the same. Theres 30 of these in total and I don't think the macs and ipads are in any better state TBH. The internet connection is terrible at the moment, it's going to take me a lifetime to download to them all via windows updates, I was just wondering if I could speed things up a little by downloading the updates to the NAS and running from there? I know a WSUS server would be the best thing but they are dead against a windows server by the looks of it. Many Thanks

I've made a copy of the icons in the same folder I've dropped the VB scripts, just finishing it off then going to give it a try. Edit: All done now and working like a charm, thank you so much

Thanks you, thats a brilliant and quick way of doing it, just what I was after. I will look at item level targeting as well though to see what it does. Thanks everyone for the help

Hi One of the schools I work in has two different versions of office installed and on top of that they have some 32bit and some 64bit Win 7 machines some running 2003 some running 2010, at the moment I need three shortcut icons for each program, is there any way I point to whatever version is installed because it's a mess at the moment. Many Thanks

that would be great, many thanks

Thanks that went full screen and is an improvement but still has bars down either side of the screen like it's stuck in 4:3 mode, I really want it to fill the screen if possible (full HD1080P). I'll have a look at those TV's too, any chance of a link as all I could find typing Seewoo was a Chinese restaurant.

Ok had a look at Air Server at home and I'm actually so impressed I might buy it for myself as well as recommend it to the schools. Just two annoying glitches I've found and I'm hoping someone on here will be able to answer these because if these can be sorted I can't see any reason not to roll this out given the cheap price. 1. I've managed to get it to go straight to my TV and the audio to go to the TV as well but it's windowed which looks awful and the schools would need it full screen for sure. 2. Video seems a bit hit and miss, Iplayer worked great as did youtube and netflix however the first thing I tried, Sky Go failed, whilst they'll never run Sky Go in school I'm worried what else it might not like. Other than that I just need to look at whiteboard apps and show this to the powers that be and hopefully save them a few quid on Apple TV's in the process.

I will certainly take a look at the pros & cons of going down the air server root, many thanks

Hi One of the schools projectors has broken so i went to the person in charge of such things, he has asked me to look into buying a 60" screen and an Apple TV to replace the smart IWB and projector which I have to admit sounds great as even though I've only been working with this school a short time most of my time is spent fixing projectors and white boards so anything that replaces them is fine by me. Each teacher currently has a macbook running snow leopard and we could most likely move an Ipad into each room as there is a mix of Ipad's and Ipad 2's in the school. What would be ideal is if 1. The Mac's/Ipads screens & sound could be sent wirelessly to the Apple TV (I believe Airplay won't work with the Mac's as they are to old) 2. The Mac's screen can be shown on the TV but also on an Ipad so that the teacher or student can control or scribble on the Mac screen via the Ipad, replacing the use of the pens on the IWB. I've seen an app called splash board that seems to do that, any other apps worth looking at? Or alternatively would a touchscreen TV be better? To be honest if I could get those two things working they've got everything they have now with the advantage of not being tied to the white board but if theres anything else good we can do with this set up I'm all ears. Many Thanks

Cheers for the advice, the learning pads do look great but alias the head of the whole group very much likes apple kit (The main school is pretty much all Mac's) and the plans pretty much revolve around Mac's, Ipads and soon Apple TV's.

Hi Sorry but I've got another Ipad question. I have a stack of ipads that need to go to the schools we support very soon (about 8-12 per school). I have suggested using Meraki to deploy apps and change settings etc. I don't think they have VPP so I was thinking that I use the one itunes account that is already in place for the one school that already has ipads (I think they just have one account anyway) and use that for all the ipads for all the schools (there all part of the same group) allowing us to just purchase the apps once (if thats a problem please let me know I don't want to do anything illegal obviously). Also how do I go about setting them up in the first place (I don't think apple configarator will be an option due to there being one macs). Can I just throw meraki on them then set up everything else from there like naming them etc. Sorry I've not really had anything to do with Ipads other than using my own one and I've never even bothered plugging that into a computer so i want to get this right.
