Hi

We have 200 desktops and I have been asked by a staff for suggestions for keeping keyboards clean and hygienic in all the ICT suites. They have lots of students using the keyboards their hands are not always clean and concerned about spreading germs. I don't know how you all manage.

Any suggestions much appreciated.

Thanks

We burn them with fire at the end of every school day...

Nah, I'm kidding. I know the cleaners give them a going over with a damp cloth at the end of the day and my apprentice (when he starts) will be keeping this maintained!

We dont.

If they are that concerned, get them to wipe their hands before they use them using baby wipes. It wont last will soon realise what a daft idea it is and carry on using computers without washing/wiping their hands.

This is an "everyone for themselves" moment. I wash my hands every time I return to my desk and clean my keyboard when I think someone else might have touched it. I'm pretty much the only member of staff who hasn't had time off this year, despite working on other people's computers quite a lot.
