SCCM 2012 and AntiVirus

We use Symantec Endpoint Protection 12 at our school district. Any recommendations on installing the SEP Client to my SCCM 2012 R2 primary server and distribution points? I am very fearful of causing issues in doing so.

 

What types of Antivirus are being used by others on there SCCM servers and did it entail configuring the Antivirus client for SCCM exceptions, etc...?
