kmount Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 ooooh, the I350! I found a problem with this on some VMware hosts the other day! Check what nic driver version you're on, the latest on the Intel site has stopped my hosts being silly for 25 days and counting!

kmount Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 Nah, on VMware it behaves differently but it's all to do with nic's and deadlocks leading to resource queueing. Updating the drivers should be a good move for you I'd say.
lholland421 Posted February 23, 2015 Author Posted February 23, 2015 managed to update the drivers and i now have a steady 1-3% cpu with a hand full of users on the server. Guess its a waiting game until tomorrow. Hope its fixed the issue
lholland421 Posted February 24, 2015 Author Posted February 24, 2015 Just looked at our CPU usage on the file server again and we are back at square one. Its gone sky high again! I have used process explorer to look at the threads being used by the system process . Take a look at the screen shot. No idea what the thread is doing though.

This might be of use to you - Blogs - Mark's Blog - Site Home - TechNet Blogs It details similar debugging using some additional tools, though it is targeted at Vista/Win Server 2008. Obviously you'll need to swap some things out, ntkrnlpa.exe to ntoskrnl.exe for example. Edited February 24, 2015 by JRowley
lholland421 Posted March 4, 2015 Author Posted March 4, 2015 Hi all, Managed to get this sorted out (Touch Wood). The issue was with the network drivers and Virtual Machine Queues. Once i had disabled this the CPU dropped. All has been fine since monday. Thanks for you help !
