Just been to buy a new battery for my car except its not showing up on databases as the correct one... DVLA has the correct details but garages and the like its showing up as a totally different car.... Am I to be worried here ? If I put my car reg in on these free car checkers I dont get my car ? Comes up as a Skoda Fabia... ? Mines a Citroen Xsara Picasso Is this worrying or has some sort of information database got it wrong ? Thanks all

abillybob Posted January 14, 2015 Posted January 14, 2015 (edited) Or more seriously could have been stolen. Check your chassis number against your documents and this should confirm all is ok. I would report to DVLA though that your car is showing up as something else when using the reg plate to identify it. Edit: Seems like you know this info sorry only skim read. sippo Posted January 14, 2015 Posted January 14, 2015 It's probably had private plates on it at some point. I have personal plates, and it took 2 years for the databases to update. 3 Years for insurance details. As long you are taxed and insured correctly on the car, I wouldn't worry.
sippo Posted January 14, 2015 Posted January 14, 2015 I'd also be very wary of the input your registration type sites, such as eurocarparts, as they are sometimes not accurate enough. I always try to add the model manually where possible.

michael2k6 Posted January 14, 2015 Posted January 14, 2015 Your car being on private plates would never mean that your current plates used to be on a different car though, your car will be registered with that plate and go back on that plate won't it? I've just bought one which was on a private plate, and it's gone back to its original plate.
sted Posted January 14, 2015 Posted January 14, 2015 depends on the database and mistakes happen. I once went into ford to get some part or other gave em the reg and was asked if it was a transit van (it was either a fiesta or focus)
