100 Mbps router to Gigabit Router

I am sorry for asking this basic question but i cannot find solution anywhere

 

The internet Provided by ISP shows a 100Mbps connection and speed of my internet provided by ISP is 20Mbps

I purchased a WAN Gigabit Router to split the single connection and to have wireless capability

 

When i check my internet speed by connecting direct cable from ISP Router of 100Mbps speedtest appears as 20Mbps speed

But when i connect same cable coming from ISP Router of 100Mbps to My Router of Gigabit, speedtest shows only 9.5Mbps speed

 

Is it normal or my Gigabit router is acting strange

Could you give us a bit more of a idea of what your setup, a basic diagram might be best.

I have a Dish Point to Point Installed

Cable coming from Dish to my ISP router. Its a single port coming out for internet. Network speed appears as 100Mbps and internet Speed is 20Mbps

Then i connect this one cable of internet coming out from ISP router of 100Mbps to my Gigabit router and setup static IP for WAN etc

When i check speed in this setup it appears as 9.5Mbps

But when i connect the single cable from ISP router to my PC it shows 20Mbps

Is the Gigabit router doing any checking i.e. Virus, Content filtering etc. Have you tried a firmware upgrade of the Router.

 

If its just doing basic routing I can't see how it's that slow. Have you tried a different network cable etc.

its a router from ISP not a DSL but yes

in this scenarios its 20Mbps

 

but if after Modem i add my Gigabit router to split one connection to 4

it gives me speed of 9.25Mbps

Why do you have to include another router when all that is required is a switch?

its a TP Link router

yes its required since ISP has provided only one Port with a static IP

I think the switch question is the relevant one. I can't see why you need to swap out the router when as Bossman says you just need a switch connected behind your router to split the connection for wireless etc.
