EES Server licensing pre-requisites

Hi All

 

Just wondering what I need to own before I'm allowed to buy an EES licence for a server OS. Dell will sell you a server with no OS, but I know for desktops, you have to have a Windows licence of some flavour before you're entitled to upgrade through EES. And would a desktop OS be valid as a version to upgrade from?

Server licensing is NOT upgrade in this setup its full fat product unless something has changed since I last did EES licensing.

Last time I looked I thought that wasn't the case, but that was a long time ago and I may have been wrong! Just as well, because our servers have no OEM licenses like most of them out there.
