Novalee Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 (edited) So yet another old projector is on its way out. Want to replace but must be able to project as close to a 1.8m * 1.2m image (but not any bigger) from a 2m distance. (Ceiling mounted). Have been using Projector Point but this is really only helpful to find the screen size, not the projector to buy. Anyone got a recommendation? **EDIT** Oh it's 2.5m away - I've mis-read my notes! localzuk Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 Hmm... That's pretty close to the board for an 84" diagonal width. If it were about 2.5m, I'd suggest the Epson EB-W03 as a cheap model. The Casio XJ-M240 would fit the bill though I think. At 2m, it'd give a 1.23/1.79m size. 1

Thanks - yes it's very close - it currently has a Epson EMP-S3 which is what it was fitted for I guess. 1.2x1.8 is the size of the screen so a bit smaller would be fine. The Casio is a bit pricey though for a classroom projector. Will take a look at the Epson though. ((see edit above)) Edited December 4, 2014 by Novalee
Heebeejeebee Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 Any help? Epson Distance Calculator We used this when we needed a specif short throw once. HBJB 1
pow Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 I've not had to move a mount for a new Epson projector, quick corner is a wonderful thing.
Heebeejeebee Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 It sure is I love it but in practice your image has to be bigger than the screen rather than smaller. HBJB
Chrisbf1 Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 NEC M230X throw ratio 1:1.3-2.4....- £340 from misco/ebuyer i think epson s3 1.45-1.95, so you are fine for that. you will have to change the plug from figure of eight to kettle, but should not have to move the mount 1

Thanks @Chrisbf1
smarties11 Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 If you want something a bit brighter, have a look at the NEC M311X, which has a throw ratio of 1:1.3-2.2. I fitted these to our classrooms in the summer of 2013, to replace our aging projectors. Really pleased with them, haven't had any complaints from teachers at all since fitting these. Before this we mainly had Epson EMP-S1's and Infocus IN26+ (terrible projectors!) We paid around £395 ex VAT for these, although we did buy 34 in total. I did the fitting myself which was a breeze; such a wide throw ratio on them that I didn't have to move any mounts. Hope this helps!
timbo343 Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 (edited) Have a look here.. Epson Europe EB-X20 Projection Calculator - Throw Distance and Screen Size We bought the Epson EB-X20 for less than £300. You should get away with the Epson EB-X20 at full zoom at 2.5m to give you an image at 1.7m x 1.3m Edited December 4, 2014 by timbo343
Novalee Posted December 4, 2014 Author Posted December 4, 2014 It is nice @smarties11 but it's nearly £500 on eBuyer and can't justify that cost unfortunately :-/ Will keep it in mind for if we ever do a whole school overhaul though.
