Morning all,

 

As you're probably aware, Adobe has officially removed FlashPaper from the new version of Contribute.

 

Another reason to divert my attention I feel!

 

After a little look around the net I came across this marvellous tool. PDFCreator is completely freeware and comes with an MSI for AD deployment!

 

I don't have to pay Adobe even more money for their PDF creator now!

PrimoPDF is also freeware - what we use at my school

If all you need to do is convert a document to a pdf then use Open Office.

 

Open the document in Open Office - click the pdf icon - name it - job done.

Another vote for PDFCreator, I like and use it, very good tool. So for making them its PDFCreator and reading them FoxIT Reader

Primo PDF we used and I still use it at home for uni.

We use PDFCreator now.

We used to use Primo PDF, but it started having ads in the free version, so I tried PDFCreator. It seems to produce better quality PDFs than Primo PDF, in my opinion.

Have deployed PDFCreator across the whole site on Tuesday, have had some good feedback from staff.

 

Looks like we're settled for now!

 

I think the head will be pleased to hear we're now saving huge amounts of money without having to pay for Adobe!

PrimoPDF (even works within a TS environment)

We use CutePDF - easy to install and use. We install it as part of our standard image.

Does anyone know of a cheap PDF Editor, i have searched the web for a free one but their aint one out there.

 

Looking for one with no limitaion on licence as want to use it for a few machines

we use pdf995 http://www.pdf995.com/

 

It's free if you don't mind the ads - Rates are reasonable if you want to lose the ads! (eg USD19.95 for single user - USD325 for 25 users for the full pdfedit995 suite)

I've used PrimoPDF for a very long time and can recommend it!

The most complete solution is still probably Jaws (or "Global Graphics"... crummy name, never liked it) PDF creator / editor. Not free, but you might be able to convince them to give you some kind of educational volume pricing.
