Do you have a notice / slip saying it was left in the porch? Take pics of said "porch" and send them to the vendor, explaining that it's the entrance to 12 flats and completely unsecure and that you never received your package. Surely they will then obliged to send another one - I'm sure they can recoup the cost from Yodel as they left it in an unsecure location?

I'm in touch with the seller, just waiting for his reply.

I agree with this, I think if you get a person in a car the service seems a lot worse than a if you get a person in a company van

It is a generalisation granted and I am sure most work hard, but it is hard to show commitment and good customer service when you are trying to get through as many as you can on what is likely a seasonal contract!

Haven't heard of that one before! Did it get recycled or were you lucky!!!

Has happened twice. Lost one (Amazon just replaced, got it the next day they sent it 1st class, to their credit), the second time I managed to grab it about 2 mins before the bin men came. I have since put a sign on the bin saying 'do not feed me with post or parcels!'

Yodel threw a large parcel over the 7tf fence in the pouring rain and left a "in your safe place" card through the door. It happened to be my Nightmare Before Xmas baubles and other bits and bobs. Not the first time this has happened either.

M&M sent a large order via Hermes last week, the replacement order sent via interlink has arrived and still no sign of the original.

I've had several knocks at my door from the Yodel drone asking to collect my parcels, when met with what parcels, hilarity often follows followed by confusion.

Its that bad now I either refused to use a company that ships via these or opt to pay for a better service.

I do the same where applicable, but some companies don't tell you who they're using until after you've ordered. Firebox springs to mind. Grumble. I just spent >£200 with you, the least you could do is use a decent courier..

Credit to M&M their CS was very good. Seems they were very well practiced at playing find the missing parcel!

It will change, once they either cant afford to use them or the compo claims get too large something will give out.

The cost of using Yodel by Amazon or whoever is vastly profitable for Amazon compared to the smaller number of orders they have to replace - all the time that is the case, they will just accept it as a known loss. Which in no way helps the customer who has to wait even longer for the thing they ordered (in my case my cable to plug mu joystick in, so I can play Elite!!).

Rightly or wrongly I ask for compensation, most say yes, Morrisons refunded my delivery charge last night for being 30 minutes late, all £1 of it :p

You don't ask you don't get, the more compensation requested, the smaller the profit margin.

That is the key, you are in the minority who would do that (I'm not saying it is bad mind you!!).

Not sure if I've posted this before in other Yodel threads but I had my Amazon Prime memberships extended by 3 months completely free two years running because of Yodel's incompetence at Christmas. First year they claimed they couldn't find the school - on a street that apart from houses has a leisure centre, a Library and a school all next to each other - and had supposedly attempted delivery at 8.30pm! The second year they claimed they'd lost the parcel and were told by Amazon to deliver it when they'd found it, despite sending a duplicate order with another courier, as it had an item in that was now out of stock. A week later I received notification that it had been returned to Amazon.

I kept telling Amazon that I never have any issues with their deliveries throughout the year to this address it is always at Christmas and always when Yodel are involved. Hopefully they've completely stopped using them now but I doubt it so I look forward to more anger this Christmas, more complaints to Amazon and more free extensions to my Prime Membership.

Just used Amazon's "deliver-to-the-corner-shop" service, Collect+. Magic. Email to say it's been delivered, shop is open all hours, pop round and collect it when convenient. Beats waiting in for a delivery.

Our local Sainsbury's has a ByBox unit - might be another useful way of getting deliveries, though I've not investigated.

I have some sympathy for some of these delivery drivers - in our small village there are no street name signs; houses are numbered in random batches or only have names; some have no name or number showing. And in the dark many of the names and numbers are simply invisible. Satnav will help but won't solve the problem! Years ago I had to call on lots of different houses and found that some were simply not discoverable - long roads with no numbering at all, just house names.
