Joanne Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Me and the husband have already had our christmas presents... he got a couple of wedges for his golf bag and I got a pair of weightlifting shoes. YAY! Don't see the point in buying each other gifts because we just buy what we want when we want anyway...
witch Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 USB-powered heated Narwhal slippers from Firebox. Bought them for my housemate. Kind of want them for myself.. He's a bit precious and wouldn't wear anything like that, sadly He won't even wear a Christmas jumper. @Joanne I agree although when the children were small and we were a lot poorer then it was possible to buy something for each other that the other one didn't feel they could spend the money on. The fun for me is finding something mrwITch didn't know he wanted, that he loves
Garacesh Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 He's a bit precious and wouldn't wear anything like that, sadly He won't even wear a Christmas jumper. I can understand not wearing Christmas jumpers But not narwhal slippers? I mean, come on. LOOK AT THEM! Don't see the point in buying each other gifts because we just buy what we want when we want anyway... And that's why I'm a bugger to buy presents for. Whereas normal people might go "Oh, I need new boots. It's November.. Might as well ask for some for Christmas." I'm like "Brb. Buying boots."
Joanne Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 The fun for me is finding something mrwITch didn't know he wanted, that he loves That is an excellent reason. I just buy rubbish... that's my problem!
sted Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 That is an excellent reason. I just buy rubbish... that's my problem! thats why i kind of like the fact we have (excluding my nephews) a £10 limit that means in most cases you may as well buy something completely silly and worst case its cost you a tenner
hardtailstar Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 For xmas presents I like to get useful stuff so last a while. Last Christmas I got camping and hiking bits so will probably get more stuff to replace old stuff lol
LiamH Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 This year was easy, me and the wife bought plane tickets to England for each other and everyone else just gave us money for the trip.
Iain.Faulkner Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 I'm having a bit of a nightmare this year as well. With the little man the wife going part time we're working to very strict budgets this year. Like @witch I like to try and get the wife something that she's not expecting that's a little bit extravagant as well. In general she's very easy to buy for, I can easily buy bodyshop items, scarves, hats, Cd's DVD's etc...it's the one special present I'm really pulling my hair out over :-( In the past it's never been a problem, but this year!!!
witch Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Can you manage a Groupon-type deal for a spa or a haircut/manicure/massage etc? That might be something she wouldn't feel able to spend money on? 1
Iain.Faulkner Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Normally that would be a route i'd go down but she had some vouchers (from the little man) for her birthday in September and hasn't had chance yet to use them :-( But the idea was a good one :-)

I quite getting the Mrs some jewellery from Etsy, often try to find some nice hand made stuff on there! Downside is a lot of it comes from the US/Canada so delivery times can be longer, and I usually have to pay a bit for customs! 1

sparkeh Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Hooray! Its Xmas. I love it but have to wait until 1st Dec to put the decorations up. In Tooting, where there's a fair sized Hindu community, we get dual-purpose non-denominational street lights that cover both Diwali and Christmas - two celebrations for the price of one! Try living in Leicester, one set of lights to cover everyone and their dog's festival all year round, its great
