Okay, so I'm showing my age here - I purchased the original single 30 years ago and went to the Live Aid concert at Wembley in July 1985....

 

At least I don't look as weathered as Bob does:

 

 

Anyway, new song, all for a good cause etc, and it's going to be premiered on X factor:

I had a go writing my own version but I'm stuggling to find words that rhyme with ebola, simon cowell and royalties. Any meaningful suggestions?

Why doesn't Bob Geldoff write a new song and then get loads of artists to collaborate on that instead? I get that it's for a good cause and all, but it just seems a bit lazy to me.

 

Or is this now going to become like an annual thing at Christmas? We get the x-factor single and the new version of "Do They Know It's Christmas?" debuts on the live show. Profits all go to whatever cause is going to further the collaborating artists' careers the most.

Haven't got time to work Ebola onto a rhyming line, but:

Most of the acts you'll hear belong to Simon Cowell

And if you have Ebola

Please don't come to the UK

Just stay away from us

Yes every year Simon will grab the royalties

His bank account

Is where you'll find his loyalties

But there's a world outside the chart show

Of music you don't need to fear

Try turning off your radio

And finding something new to hear

 

And the music that you find there

Could well fill your heart with joy

If nothing else

It won't be Simon Cowell's!

The amount of money Simon will make from this will be obscene

You should have all bought rage against the machine

 

I hope it does raise a lot of funds for Ebola though.
