Locking browsers to only visit set pages/sites

Hi there,

 

Is there an easy way to "lock" a browser (preferably IE) so that it can only visit a particular page/site? Asking for our Reception teachers who spend a bit of time each morning navigating to a particular website, only to turn around and find the children have browsed away to something they want to do instead!

 

Is there a bit of software that would help to lock them down?

You could use a proxy PAC file and set it up so that your whitelisted sites use the correct proxy and anything else uses a fake one.

 

Watch out, though, as what your teachers may want the kids to use is one of those aggregator sites with loads of links out. (I found this out the hard way!)

I do this with my UniFi controller. I use "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" -k https://unifi:8443/login

In chrome you can set a page as an app eg

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe" --app=https://unifi:8443

Thank you all for your replies - I think I will give kiosk mode a go. I can create the shortcuts and drop them into the shared folder for them to use - great!
