Has anyone got the driver for the Camera that works with Windows 8.1 pro? I used the drivers that were posted in an earlier post and that worked great but the Camera driver doesn't seem to work. I contacted Linx support and they told me there was no driver available for it.

Have you tried looking in Device Manager to get the vender and device ID, then searching for a driver based on those? Might not have "linx" written on it, but it might well work - its what I do when I can't get an original driver from the manufacturer.

From Windows 8.1 Update 1 onwards, PowerShell includes a cmdlet called Export-WindowsDriver for exporting third-party drivers.

 

Export-WindowsDriver –Online -Destination c:\LinxDrivers

Thanks for the reply. I backup the drivers as per the post so I have the original camera drivers but they don't work unfortunately. I only have the one tablet as I bought it for testing purpose. Will try Localzuk advice and see where I get.

I haven't tried setting up for SCCM 2012 deployment yet but that's on the cards so I will let you know if successful!

I'm fairly close the unsigned drivers are a pain. Though I can probably get around that.

What I did with ours was to use the PowerShell command from above to extract the drivers, imported these into MDT 2013 and created a new .wim. Once I had my .wim I then copied this to a bootable USB drive and installed Windows 8.1. All appears to be working fine at the moment.

attempting to do this without MDT as our MDT setup doesnt support 8.1.

awaiting DISM to finish capturing a image to USB.....

 

so booted winpe from the UEFI shell and ran DISM.

if the image creation completes i might attempt to copy it to another one or use the built in 8.1 recovery to point it at the created WIM.

i REALLY dont want to brick it

Yup it's why I stored our last couple of Windows tablets in the stock room waiting for Win10 and the Enterprise Store

looks like they have added some bits which would have made what im doing sooo much quicker offline deployment.

the only sticking point is needing to have azure based AD Accounts which are not free as they are hosted and not "onsite"

Azure AD is free for schools with Office 365.

We've got a couple of these devices in our team office, and was wondering if anyone else has had any joy with PXE booting them? We've already got as far enough to booting via USB; putting Win-10 Educational version on it, got it on the domain, and some investigation into SCCM licensing/Policy edits; but what we really need is the ability to set these up quickly as we will likely be getting some more in the near future (I can set them up with all the drivers on an image, and going from an image will also allow us to set up an answer file to even automate the process on putting these on the domain). Any assistance would be appreciated.

The original didn't have pxe. There is no built in wired nic so I can see it working.

I was wondering if any schools have bought these and given them out to students like an iPad scheme? I can see them being useful for some of our key staff (site team, bursar, IT support) but i'm thinking maybe 6th form.
