Spoiler - Just off down the bookies to put a tenner on the master is not dead...not saying she was hamming it up but it made her appearances on Green Wing look reserved.

Yeah. I bet she's still alive too.

In the Christmas episode I wonder if Clara will tell the Doctor she is pregnant and Danny Pink is actually dead?

Is it me or was that one rubbish finale?

It just seems half baked and reused previous story lines.

I felt a bit "Meh" at the end of it, same disappointing stuff, build an episode up and then smash to a silly ending in the last 15 minutes, Master's death was a complete anti-climax.

I don't think he/she is dead anyway. Just did that vanishing thing

In the Doctor Who Extra, Steven Moffat said that supervillains don't die so I expect s/he will appear again in the future (just like the Daleks, Cybermen and Weeping Angels). :)

Didn't the vanishing thing require the bracelet? [and/or the phone.]

I didn't like the hand-wave "it's a promise!" thing...

sums up the whole series really some nice ideas poorly executed for whatever reason. I cant even be bothered to remember what time its on now just watch it when it shows up on the pvr

Yeah, but this is the Master.

I still don't get how the Danny and Brigadier cybermen could ignore the instructions because of "love" but the others, who presumably loved people too, could not

really strong willed ? but really I suspect because the plot needed it to happen no actual reason

The same old "love will save the day!" trope was silly, again, as it is every time they use it on the show.

But I did love Missy - much more madness showing through the cracks, and really felt like an equal of the Doctor. Definitely my favourite version of the Master.

Deus Ex Machina.

I was quite getting into this one even though it made little sense. Then after the end credits rolled... :suicide:

(Why aren't animated smilies animating?)

Because plot device.

Also, the 'news' mentioned there were only very isolated incidents of Cybermen attacking people etc.. The majority were just docile. Let's keep in mind that we only really saw a small percentage of Cybermen across the world. There were millions of others across the globe, presumably x% of those weren't 'active' either.

Plus, the afterlife thing, with the choice to delete emotions. I'm guessing since Danny never did, his inhibitor didn't work. Possibly the same for the Brigadier.

But the fact that we have to discuss these things as a 'what if' indicates, to me, bad writing. Everybody should be able to 'see' and understand what's going on without having to discuss it (bar the mystery plot arcs like who is Missy etc)

Overall I did feel disappointed. It felt like a bit of a let-down. I don't think for a second The Master is dead. No way.

Also.. Didn't they say not all of the graves had 'activated' yet? So aren't there still a bunch of Cybermen under the soil that didn't go kaboom?

That being said.. I do like what Missy/The Master was trying to accomplish. Giving The Doctor an army.. It felt like she was trying to goad him into taking the Cyberman army, breaking through the time lock into Gallifrey and using the Cybermen against the Daleks in the time war, thus saving the Time Lords. And it felt - for just the briefest of moments - that he considered it. But then it was all snuffed out by soldier speech and a quick wrap-up that felt disappointing.

Another vote for "slightly disappointed". I was expecting more from the Danny subplot. Did love Missy, though (even though she snuffed out Osgood) and hope she'll be back. I did feel Capaldi played the Gallifrey scene a bit oddly. Both Mme LeMarchand and I took it as "Noooooo!!! Gallifrey is in cinders!" but apparently it was "That lying beeatch!".

One thing that's cheesing me off with "New Who" is the amount of time spent on the companions and their families. At first it was good to see that they did keep in touch with loved ones back home, but now it's getting ridiculous: Clara even went to work between adventures!

C'mon: if I was a single man who ended up on the Tardis, I wouldn't be coming back to ensure the network was running smoothly!

The bit where Danny sent the kid back is just a rehash of the rose being locked in the other dimension finale and a poor rip off as well.

Has Steven Moffitt run out of ideas?

Bringing back the master should be an epic and well constructed story like the "Sound of the Drums" episodes/finale, not the final 2 episodes with a 30 second recap to crowbar the back story in.

Peter Capaldi portrayal of the doctor is really good (nice and dark) but the story lines are really letting him down. Just wish Russell T Davis would come back as lead writer.

Great excuse so he can dust off an old story line and re badge it and claim its his.

I was annoyed with the last 2 episodes. The entire story over both were predictable. I do like this Dr however, he is somewhat darker than his predecessors and its a refreshing change from being barmy/smarmy and smug all the time.

"So....officer, you know that kid who died a while back?"

"Yes?"

"A ghost opened up an inter-dimensional portal and he appeared on my landing."

"....really?"

"Yes"

"Well uhh, then Miss Oswald you are under arrest for child kidnap."

LOL

She probably just called UNIT. IIRC he probably would have been safer if she hadn't tried to return him to his folks, though, as they seemed to live in a war zone.

Completely agree.. Capaldi has been amazing.. I confess I instantly liked him, whereas the previous Doctors (even the hero-worshipped Tennant) took a few episodes for me to warm up to.

He's clearly an amazing actor to be doing this well with such terrible scripts. Russel T Davis' plots were so much better. Moffat seems to be able to dream up these incredible-sounded ideas that would make wonderful story arcs.. But then falls short of actually executing them.

I must admit I didn't spot the minor change in the title sequence:
