A little advice...

Our LEA has just dropped the bombshell that from December they will no longer be paying for G2 as an LEA and that we will have to take over our own MIS management and pay RM ourselves or make alternative arrangements. Obviously we are not pleased, but it's way too short notice to do anything about it.

Has anyone else moved away from G2 and got their data out and roughly how much did it cost?

We are a junior school with about 150 staff and about 450 pupils, would someone like to suggest some suitable alternatives? We don't want to host internally, so I was contemplating Progresso as I have history with Advanced Learning products.

Your thoughts?

I'm amazed that your LA has been funding your MIS up until now. I can't think of another English LA has done so for many many years.

We've been paying into the LEA pot for it, but we've had essentially a group discount on it by doing it as an LEA. RM are continuing to honour the LEA price for the near future, but the contract will be with us rather than with the LEA.

Ok that is what the others do. I suspect the LA is having to reduce its expenditure and has decided that it can't afford to go through an expensive tender process. Edited by PhilNeal

What's the difference between the LA discounted price they will offer you, and the amount you were putting into the pot?

I'd stick with them while you gather your thoughts and do some research. There's no need to jump quickly, and even if it costs a bit more money to stay with them for a year, it's a small price to pay for stability. A rushed change will not only go down badly with all stakeholders, but you could end up going back to RM after, just cos it's a known system, even though it might not be the best move for you.

We aren't going to rush into anything, but we now know that we need to explore our options now ready for next academic year. I'm not sure of the exact numbers, the Business Manager deals with that, but it's enough to make him question whether it is still offering good value or not.

We will certainly be looking into progresso.

I suppose my main question however is has anyone else managed to get their data out of G2 and into something else and how much that process might cost?
