Downgrade iOS Can it be done??

Hi All

 

Does anyone know a way of downgrading iOS 8.0.1 to any version of iOS 7. I've had a look round the net but its all "apple have stop signing this version"

 

I have another iPad with 7 on it is there a way i can make a clone of this?

 

also tried downloading the ipsw file however says unable to check iOS?

The reason why it says unable to check iOS is because Apple have stopped signing iOS 7. Historically there was a way to capture the SHSH blobs sent out by Apple, thus allowing you to use a third party server to sign your restore. Almost certain this has since been patched, it required a jailbroken device as well.

Aah just looked into this further, the ability to downgrade using this method also requires a bootrom exploit, unfortunately none exist for any devices iPad 2 or newer. So in short, no it isn't possible. Edited October 22, 2014 by tmoon-mint

Thanks for that. What a PITA, Only problem we are having with it is that we have a lot of apple tvs & when opening the airplay list the items all jump around, so its hard to find the right classroom. Suppose they will fix it sooner or later.

I believe with the latest Apple TV update they can connect over ad-hoc instead of on your network. Could potentially be a solution for you.

Have you tried iOS 8.1 which came out Monday? It may have fixed your issues.

Thanks, Don't know how this would work, the problem is that we have over 100 tvs with the ipads & atv connected to our school network. When you open the airplay list it is alot smaller than before and you can only see about 4 of them, you can scroll but its no use as atvs keep jumping in & out. ideas?

If the Apple TV's have updated to 7, that could be the problem. We've found that an updated Apple TV doesn't show in the Airplay list, but all the v6 ones still do.

This only happens if using Ethernet cable on the Apple TV. WiFi it still works as expected. I just turned Standby off on all our Apple TVs as the fix. New Apple TV Firmware went beta yesterday so if you have a developer account you could download that and see if that has a fix for this issue in it.
