MrEprise Posted October 16, 2014 Posted October 16, 2014 Various people have also complained that the Fan Speed Controller is badly implemented too causing the fan to never ramp up if the PSU temperature rises. However, I've owned (and still own) the HX520, HX620 & HX750 Modular PSUs and haven't experienced either of these issues so can only assume their presence in either certain models or particular batches.

Not 100% sure but could of sworn I read somewhere that said they were re branded power supplies.

IIRC, whether you get coil whine can depend a lot on the other components in your system. Seasonic mention that you might get coil whine if your motherboard isn't compliant with EU Directive ErP2013. The ErP2013 is an European Directive that tries to reduce standby energy usage. The power supplies are ErP ready but will require the MB to be as well. (Source) Seasonic reports that adjustments in the BIOS of some recent motherboards eliminates electronic noise completely with many earlier production samples. The settings are: BIOS set up to ENABLE ErP/EuP (S4~S5) BIOS set up to DISABLE Audio Always On (Source) 1

Good to know - so if you have those settings the other way around so disable Erp/EuP and Enable Audio Always on, do you have that coil whine issue ?
