sonofsanta Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 I switched to the LTS version of Flash recently after 14 broke a lot of Boardworks PowerPoints... turns out that most of the internet still lives in 1998 and does Flash Player checks, and everything complains that we're not on the most up to date version of Flash, despite being fully up to date on the LTS version. Including Flash! It keeps harassing me to update! Gotten so annoyed in the space of a month I'm just going to test 15 and make sure it doesn't break things and push that out. Stupid, stupid internet. Anyone know what URL I need to block to stop Flash checking in and whinging? The mms.cfg "AutoUpdateDisable=1, SilentAutoUpdateEnable=0" doesn't seem to be making a difference anymore.

Looks like I'm only pushing it to %windir%\syswow64\macromed\flash\mms.cfg so only x64 - I'm guessing x86 is to System32 instead of syswow64?

Pretty sure I've always deployed x86, though, so the syswow64 file should have taken effect. Who bloomin' knows - will investigate this morning as part of testing. EDIT: from the Admin guide linked by @Quackers: 32-bit Windows - %WINDIR%\System32\Macromed\Flash 64-bit Windows - %WINDIR%\SysWow64\Macromed\Flash So they may have corrected their stupidity and that's why my mms.cfg was no longer taking effect. Can I ask, do you guys just use the AutoUpdateDisable=1, or do you set other parameters also? Also, do you just push it out via GPP, or a script on deploy etc? Edited October 15, 2014 by smithson83

We're keeping our eyes peeled for any regressions now they've moved on to a rapid-release cycle. 1

I did spot that - I got the update email from you after I'd opened a support case, thanks - but I'd decided to stick on LTS out of a general sentiment of "never trust Adobe not to break everything with a new feature". SHimmer45 Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 flash needs to be burnt with fire, however dont get me started on Java 8 and the stupid default of blocking EVERYTHING and not taking wildcards for local ip ranges.... (so each printer IP needs to be added) and it also appears to reset the security level as it pleases...
chazzy2501 Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 OMG, I'm a stickler for licensing except for the blooming adobe nonsense! I'll continue to include it in my fat images. I can't count how many times I've had to registry fix failed flash updates Now I can't just get the MSI and go URRRRAGH!
